Halftime Report: Buccaneers vs. Bills

Posted Oct 22, 2017

A recap of the first half of the Buccaneers' Week 7 matchup with the Bills.

With quarterback Jameis Winston’s status in question until late in the week, Bucs fans were anxious to see how the signal caller would do making his 38th straight start after suffering an AC joint injury last week in Arizona.

Following a slow start against the Cardinals, the Bucs made sure to start fast this time around, opting for a hurry-up offense in their first drive. Winston’s first throw came on a play action pass to O.J. Howard for a first down, quieting any concern for his shoulder. The quarterback seemed comfortable, connecting with multiple receivers and moving the chains. The drive resulted in a Patrick Murray 50-yard field goal to put the Bucs on the board first.

The Bills would answer with a field goal of their own, with the Bucs defense putting up a good showing at the goal line to force the kick.

Patrick Murray would tack on another field goal from 25 yards before the end of the first, putting the Bucs up 6-3.

On the ensuing drive, a LeSean McCoy three-yard touchdown run in the second quarter would put the Bills up 10-6. The Bucs would succumb to two turnovers before the end of the half, once on a Jameis Winston fumble that set up a failed 41-yard field goal attempt by the Bills and another on an interception with less than thirty seconds remaining.

The Bills wouldn’t be able to translate the interception into any points, leaving the score at 10-6 at halftime. The Bills will get the ball back to start the second half.
