Posted Oct 22, 2013

Thursday night’s game against the Carolina Panthers has been deemed the Bucsparilla Game, and fans are encouraged to come decked out in their best pirate garb

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are invading Thursday Night Football for a battle against the division-rival Carolina Panthers on October 24th at Raymond James Stadium. Bucs fans are encouraged to join the siege, attending the game in their beads, captain’s hats, eye patches and best pirate gear to show their Tampa Bay pride at the Bucsparilla Game.

The Buccaneers have always taken pride in our role as a symbol of the great traditions and legacy of Tampa Bay.  Bucsparilla – a play off the popular annual Gasparilla Pirate Festival in Tampa, which celebrates the legend of José Gaspar, a Spanish pirate purported to have prowled Florida’s Gulf Coast as one of the last true Buccaneers – will provide fans the opportunity to exhibit the unique culture and tradition of our region on a national stage of NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football.

The game will feature a number of pirate-themed elements to match the celebration of the decked-out fans in the stands. In addition to the traditional Bucsparilla pregame float and in-game cannon fire during the pregame show and for every Buccaneers point, Thursday night’s game will boast the Pewter Pirate flag bearers pumping up the crowd and a special halftime celebration.

A tribute to all those who attended the game in their best Buccaneer outfits, a Halloween-themed cheerleading performance, and a highlight reel of your Tampa Bay Buccaneers efforts and dedication to the community will be featured at halftime.

Please note that costumes must comply with the security regulations, including the NFL’s clear bag policy and the list of prohibited items in the stadium. The list of prohibited items includes bottles or glass; any toy weapons, guns, swords, knifes, etc.; banners with sticks or poles; hats or items that may obstruct views. Thursday night is the time to celebrate the originality, eccentricity, unique culture, history and pride of Tampa Bay. The Bucsparilla game is your chance to show the nation why the Buccaneers fan base is the best in the league. So put a shine on those pirate shoes, dust off your vests and jackets, and brush up on that pirate swagger because Thursday night is Bucsparilla night!
