Reminder: Register for Treasure Chests 5K!

Posted Oct 6, 2013

Fans have until Wednesday to register for the Treasure Chests 5K, in which they can support breast cancer research, run the race and finish the day watching the Bucs take on the Eagles

What's the best way to unwind after starting your day with a five-kilometer run and an important charitable endeavor?  How about grabbing a cold drink and kicking back to watch your Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Philadelphia Eagles…with 65,000 of your closest friends.

On October 13, the Buccaneers will be kicking off an exciting new Bay area tradition, just hours before they kick off against the Eagles for a critical intra-conference matchup.  It's the brand new "Treasure Chests 5K," a race aimed at raising funds for breast cancer research and timed perfectly to coincide with the Buccaneers' involvement in the NFL-wide Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The route for the Treasure Chests 5K winds around Raymond James Stadium, and for those who take part in the race and support the cause, it will end up inside the stadium.  Each entry into the race comes complete with admission to the Bucs-Eagles game, sure to be one of the most coveted tickets on Tampa Bay's 2013 home schedule.  The first 500 people to register for the race will get even closer to the action, as they'll be invited down to the field to be part of a halftime presentation.  Visit the Treasure Chests 5K page for more information and to register online.

Registration for the Treasure Chests 5K is now open and will run through Wednesday, October 9 (day-of-event registration will not be available).  Season pass members can enter for $15; those without existing tickets can choose from three different ticket options, all at reduced prices.  Each registration affords the entrant a chance to compete and raise awareness for a valuable cause, as well as all of the following:

  • Ticket to the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers game
  • Treasure Chests 5K athletic “wicking” gender-specific t-shirt
  • Chipped race bib
  • Donation to breast cancer research
  • On-field halftime experience for the first 500 entrants
  • Opportunity to win medals for first, second and third finishers in each age category

The Treasure Chests 5K will take racers across a variety of terrains, including grass, and will begin and end on Tom McEwen Boulevard just south of Raymond James Stadium.  There are 12 different age groups in which runners can medal, and all those over 40 are considered to be in the "Masters" category.  The top overall finishers in the male, female, masters male and masters female categories will become honorary coin toss captains for the Eagles game and will also receive two suite tickets to the next Buccaneers home game against the Carolina Panthers on October 24.

So register now and join the Buccaneers in October in raising awareness for breast cancer research and mastering the competition on the playing field.  The Treasure Chests 5K is the only Bay area race where the finish line is also a ticket for the hottest seat in town.
