CB Gorrer Activated from I.R.

Posted Nov 2, 2013

CB Danny Gorrer, who spent the first eight games on the injured reserve/designated for return list, has been added to the active roster and can play as soon as Sunday's game in Seattle

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a switch at cornerback on Saturday morning, in the process adding some experienced depth to the position.

The experience comes in the form of fourth-year cornerback Danny Gorrer, who spent the first half of the 2013 season on injured reserve due to a groin ailment.  Gorrer was eligible to return this season because he received the one "designated for return" tag allotted to the Buccaneers; he returned to practice two weeks ago but did not immediately count against the 53-man roster.

By activating him, the Buccaneers made it possible for Gorrer to return to action as soon as Sunday's game in Seattle.  To make room on the active roster, the team released first-year cornerback Bobby Felder, who had been claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings earlier in the season.

Gorrer himself was a waiver claim just over a year ago, added by the Buccaneers when he was released by, coincidentally, the Seahawks.  He played in the last eight games of the 2012 season, contributing eight tackles, one interception and two passes defensed.  Gorrer also playe dfor the St. Louis Rams as a rookie in 2009 and for the Baltimore Ravens in 2011.  In all, he has apepared in 29 NFL games with one start and recorded 18 tackles, one interception, seven passes defensed and seven stops on special teams.
