The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made their trip to St. Louis on Saturday without starting strong safety Mark Barron
, who has been limited all week with a hamstring injury. Upon arriving, the team officially downgraded Barron to out for Sunday’s game against the Rams.
- DT M. Masifilo has been on the Bucs' practice squad for the first 15 weeks of the season
Barron joins defensive end Da’Quan Bowers and guard Carl Nicks
as the three Buccaneers who definitely won’t suit up on Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome. Everybody else on Tampa Bay’s injury report – LB Lavonte David
, WR Vincent Jackson
, guard Davin Joseph
and defensive tackle Akeem Spence
– is considered probable to play against the Rams.
Barron will miss his second game of the season. The Buccaneers are expected to start second-year player Keith Tandy
in his place.
Tampa Bay also restored its active roster to 53 players on Saturday before leaving for St. Louis. The open spot that was created on Wednesday when wide receiver Russell Shepard
was placed on injured reserve was filled by the promotion of defensive tackle Matthew Masifilo
from the practice squad. Masifilo spent the last seven weeks of his 2012 rookie season on the Bucs’ active roster after being signed off San Francisco’s practice squad but was inactive for each of those games. This year, he is one of two players, along with cornerback Marc Anthony
, who has been on the Buccaneers’ practice squad since Week One.
