Signed by the Buccaneers off the Dallas Cowboys practice squad on November 3, 2009… Released by the Cowboys on September 5, 2009 before being signed to Dallas’ practice squad the following day… Spent Weeks 1-8 of the 2009 season on the Dallas practice squad… Originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round selection (227th overall) of the Cowboys in the 2009 NFL Draft.

Left Cincinnati as the school's all-time leader in interceptions with 14, including three returned for touchdowns, while also compiling 233 tackles, eight tackles for loss, one sack, 48 pass breakups, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries while starting in 46 of 47 games that he played in… All-Big East Conference second-team selection in 2008… Started 11 games, including the team's first 10 contests, at left cornerback as a senior… Deflected 10 passes and ranked second on the team with 70 tackles in 2008… Earned All-America first-team honors from the Football Writers Association and was named to the All-Big East Conference first-team as a junior while starting in all 13 games… Earned second-team All-Big East Conference honors, starting all 13 games at left cornerback as a sophomore… Second-team Freshman All-America choice by Football News and honorable mention Freshman All-America by The Sporting News along with being named AII-Big East Conference second-team pick and Bearcats Defensive Newcomer of the Year… Majored in criminal justice.
 

Attended Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio where he was a two-time All-Greater Western Ohio Conference cornerback… Amassed 205 tackles, 10 interceptions, four blocked field goals and a kickoff returned a touchdown during his prep career… Also excelled in track, becoming the state 300-meter hurdles champion as a junior and was part of the school's 4x400 meter relay team, helping them to a second-place finish at the state finals as a sophomore… Born Mike Mickens on July 24, 1987 in Fairborn, Ohio.
