ACQUIRED BY BUCS:

  • Signed by Tampa Bay on March 12, 2014, as an unrestricted free agent from the New York Giants.

ORIGINALLY ENTERED NFL:

  • Originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick, (202nd overall) of the Oakland Raiders in the 2009 NFL Draft.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Has played in 88 career games, with 48 starts, recording 180 receptions for 1,768 yards and eight touchdowns.
  • Played for Oakland (2009-12), and the New York Giants (2013) before joining Tampa Bay.
  • Caught his first career touchdown against Tampa Bay (11/4/12), finishing the day with eight catches for 59 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Has one career 100-receiving yard game, catching 14 passes for 130 yards and one touchdown against Cleveland (12/2/12). His 14 catches are tied for the second-most by a tight end in a single game since 2009.
  • Tallied 79 receptions in 2012, the most by an AFC tight end and the seventh-most overall in the conference.

  • Was a member of the Prairie City-Monroe basketball team that posted a 27-0 record and won the Class 2A state championship during his senior year. He was named first-team Class 2A all-state basketball by the Des Moines Register.

  • In March 2015 helped host Kory, a young visitor from the Dream On 3 Foundation, who toured One Buc Place and played catch with Murphy on the practice field.
  • In March 2015, visited Hunter’s Creek Middle School in Orlando to lead students in PLAY 60 drills, present the school with a $10,000 PLAY 60 grant, and congratulate Bobby Sena for being named the national winner of the NFL PLAY 60 Super Kid competition.
  • Participated as a celebrity escort in the Pediatric Cancer Foundation’s 2015 “Fashion Funds the Cure” fashion show.
  • Along with UnitedHealthcare employees, Buccaneers teammates and cheerleaders, delivered and installed five Learning Gardens at Potter Elementary in September 2014 to reinforce the importance of agriculture and healthy eating.
  • In November 2014, greeted military service members for the USAA Salute to Service Luncheon at MacDill Air Force Base.
