Acquired By Bucs: 

Signed by Tampa Bay on March 10, 2016 as an unrestricted free agent from Seattle.

 

Originally Entered NFL: 

Originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick, (225th overall) of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft.

 

Career Highlights: 

Has started 49-of-59 career regular-season games played, including each of the past 46 that he has appeared in.

Started all 10 postseason contests he appeared in with Seattle (2012-15), helping the team win consecutive NFC Championships (2013-14) and earn a victory in Super Bowl XLVIII.

In his three seasons as a starter (2013-15), Sweezy was part of an offensive line that helped block for the Seahawks’ league-leading 150.7 rushing yards per game and 4.71 yards per rush over that span. The team had 48 games with at least 100 rushing yards in three seasons, the most in the NFL.

Made postseason debut starting in a win at Washington (1/6/13).

Started in his NFL debut, at Arizona (9/9/15).

 

2016 Highlights:

Placed on Reserve/PUP on August 30.

 

College/Personal: 

Played in 35 games as a defensive lineman at North Carolina State (2007-11), with 20 starts, recording 86 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 11.0 sacks, three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Voted a team captain in his senior season (2011)

Named honorable mention All-ACC following his junior campaign (2010).

Redshirted as a true freshman.

Majored in sport management.

Attended Mooresville High School (Mooresville, North Carolina).

A PrepStar all-region selection who played linebacker and totaled over 300 tackles and 20 tackles for loss in his final two seasons.

Won the Class 3A heavyweight wrestling championship for the state of North Carolina.
