Avie Glazer
AVIE GLAZER

Avie Glazer is committed to supporting the Glazer Family Foundation through his work with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Glazer Family Foundation, established in 1999, is dedicated to assisting charitable and educational causes in the West Central Florida region. It works with youth and families to help identify and create programs that support positive social and economic development within our communities. Since its inception, the Foundation has given millions in programs, grants, tickets and merchandise to the Tampa Bay area, including the “Cheering You On” program, which gives every child admitted to seven local hospitals a Buccaneers teddy bear and activity book. To date, more than 381,000 teddy bears have been distributed to hospitalized children throughout central Florida. The Vision Mobile and the Gameday for Kids programs are just a few of the other initiatives in which Glazer takes great pride.

Most recently, the foundation donated $5 million toward the construction of the Glazer Children’s Museum in downtown Tampa, which opened to rave reviews in September of 2010. Glazer and his wife, Jill, are deeply committed to providing aid and assistance in the community. Glazer and Jill support numerous causes, including the Cleveland Clinic, Tulane University, Washington University in St. Louis, and the Palm Beach Day Academy.

Avie Glazer is also the Co-Chairman of Manchester United, the world’s most popular and valuable sports team. During his tenure, Manchester United has captured five Premier League titles (2007-09, 2011 and 2013), as well as the 2008 Champions League title.

United for UNICEF, the international charity partnership between Manchester United and UNICEF, has had a positive impact on the lives of over 1.5 million children in countries across the globe, including China, India, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, South Africa, Mozambique, Afghanistan and Iraq. The projects supported have included work with children affected by emergencies like the Tsunami and those living in poverty, often with no access to education and at risk from exploitation. Since October 2005, Manchester United has supported UNICEF’s global campaign on children & AIDS, ‘Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS’.

Avie Glazer was formerly the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Zapata Corporation, which was founded by former President George H. W. Bush.

A native of Rochester, New York, Glazer received his BSBA from Washington University in St. Louis in 1982 and earned his law degree from the Washington College of Law at American University. He also studied law at Beijing University and Fudan University in Shanghai. Avie Glazer and his wife Jill have two children.
