16th NFL Season, 1st with Buccaneers
Bill Rees enters his first season with Tampa Bay in 2011 as a college scout, having spent the previous two years with Northwestern University while also working the past two offseasons as an outside consultant to the Buccaneers for the NFL Draft.
Last season as the Wildcats coordinator of player personnel/assistant director of football operations, Rees was in charge of coordinating the teams day-to-day recruiting efforts and in 2009 worked as the special teams quality control assistant.
Prior to his time at Northwestern, Rees was a veteran of 15 years in the NFL, where he served as a scout for the Kansas City Chiefs (1994-97), the Director of College Scouting for the Chicago Bears (1997-2001), the Director of College Scouting (2001-03) and the Director of Player Personnel (2003-04) for the San Francisco 49ers, the Director of Player Personnel/College Scouting for the Cleveland Browns (2004-08) and a Pro and College Scout for the Chiefs (2008-09).
Before entering the NFL ranks, Rees spent 15 years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for UCLA from 1979-94. He began his career at Northwestern as a graduate assistant in 1976-77 before serving one year as an assistant coach for the Wildcats in 1978.
Rees is a 1976 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University with a bachelor's degree in history. He earned a master's degree in education administration from Northwestern in 1977. Rees and his wife, Susan, have three children: Danny, a graduate of UCLA where he was a two-year letterman as a punter/holder; Meghan, a senior at Miami (Ohio); and Tommy, a sophomore quarterback at Notre Dame.
