BUCCANEERS ACTIVATE GIOVANI BERNARD AND LAVONTE DAVID

Tampa Bay elevates two players from practice squad

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today activated running back Giovani Bernard (No. 25) and linebacker Lavonte David (No. 54) from Injured Reserve. Bernard (hip/knee) and David (foot) are both Questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.

Bernard (5-9, 205) appeared in 12 games for the Buccaneers during the regular season, rushing eight times for 58 yards (7.3 avg.) and making 23 receptions for 123 yards and three receiving touchdowns.  

David (6-1, 233) started 12 games for Tampa Bay during the regular season, recording 97 tackles (five for loss), four quarterback hits, three passes defensed, 2.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Since entering the league in 2012, David ranks first in the NFL in solo tackles (867), first in fumble recoveries (17), second in total tackles (1,220), tied for third in forced fumbles (26) and fifth in tackles for loss (134). Among linebackers, he also ranks tied for second during that span in interceptions (12) and fourth in passes defensed (54).

In addition, Tampa Bay elevated running back Kenjon Barner (No. 38) and tight end Codey McElroy (No. 86) from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's game vs. Philadelphia and waived cornerback Rashard Robinson and wide receiver Justin Watson.
