The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today elevated wide receivers Kaylon Geiger Sr. (No. 80) and Deven Thompkins (No. 83) from the team's practice squad for tomorrow's Week 5 game vs. the Atlanta Falcons.
Geiger (5-10, 180) has appeared in two games for the Buccaneers this season, playing primarily on special teams. He originally entered the league as a college free agent with the Buccaneers on May 13, 2022 before signing to the team's practice squad following training camp. He was promoted to the active roster on September 21 prior to being waived on September 26 and signed back to the practice squad on September 28. Geiger finished his collegiate career at Texas Tech, earning All-Big 12 honorable mention honors in 2021. The Fort Worth, Texas, native began his collegiate career at Navarro College (2017-18) before transferring to Troy, where he was a two-time All-Sun Belt selection in both of his seasons for the Trojans (2019-20).
Thompkins (5-8, 155) entered the league as a college free agent with Tampa Bay on May 13, 2022, and has spent the first four weeks of the 2022 season on the Buccaneers' practice squad. He played four seasons at Utah State (2018-21), appearing in 40 games, recording 171 receptions for 2,519 yards and 15 touchdowns. The Fort Myers, Florida, native ranked second in the FBS in 2021 with his 1,704 receiving yards, earning Associated Press third-team All-America honors in his final season.
