Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today activated outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett (No. 58) and practice squad kicker Jose Borregales (No. 19) from the Reserve/COVID-19 list. In addition, the team placed cornerback Richard Sherman (No. 5) on the Reserve/Injured list.

Barrett (6-2, 250) has played in and started 15 games this season, recording 57 tackles (nine for loss), 22 quarterback hits, 10.0 sacks, four passes defensed, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception. He was selected to the Pro Bowl for the second time in his past three seasons with Tampa Bay. Barrett joined Simeon Rice (five), Lee Roy Selmon (four) and Warren Sapp (three) as the only players in franchise history with multiple seasons of 10.0-or-more sacks.

Sherman joined the Buccaneers in Week 4 and appeared in five games for Tampa Bay this season, recording 11 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery. Since entering the league in 2011, Sherman leads the NFL with 37 interceptions, while his 115 passes defensed rank tied for fifth during that span.

Tampa Bay also signed wide receiver John Hurst to its practice squad.

Hurst (6-2, 190) spent nine weeks on the Buccaneers practice squad earlier this season after spending the 2021 training camp and preseason with the Los Angeles Chargers. He originally entered the league as a college free agent with Tampa Bay in 2020. Over four seasons at West Georgia, Hurst caught 77 passes for 1,242 yards (16.1 avg.) and 12 touchdowns in 35 career games, earning him a spot on the West Georgia All-Decade Team. Hurst is a native of Milton, Georgia.
