Head Coach Dirk Koetter

Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick

Head Coach Dirk Koetter

(On the status of wide receiver DeSean Jackson's concussion)

"We'll be putting that injury report out here pretty quick."

(On Jackson having one of his best games with the Buccaneers against the Saints)

"Definitely. DeSean's had a lot of games like that in his career. That's the first one he's had here, and he had chances to make plays and he made them. He did a really nice job."

(On if he has a sense on if Jackson's use as a punt returner is situational)

"Yep I do have a sense, but again you're telling me to tell you our strategy and I can't do that."

(On what he saw in the Eagles game against the Falcons and if they kept Matt Ryan in check)

"They did, they really did. Obviously we know a lot about the Falcons because they're in our division. That just really goes to show how tough that Eagles defense really is. I think Atlanta had five chances inside the 10-yard-line to win the game – they had to hit one-of-five to get it in the end zone. And then even earlier in the game they had some chances. It still comes back to everything with Philly is predicated on the pressure they get with rushing four – as good as it gets with a four-man rush. And they keep those guys fresh. They are good at putting pressure on you."

(On what the back end of the Eagles defense does to make it difficult to throw)

"Well, the pressure helps the back end. Right? The pressure helps the back end and they have good players both in the front and in the back. They play a lot of nickel and dime coverages. A lot of nickel and dime looks, so they get those extra DBs out there. They do a really good job of passing routes off – of matching routes as we would say. They're not complicated, but they're really good at what they do."

(On the timing that Jackson and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick have developed and how that came about)

"I'm not sure. That's a good question. I'm really not sure what the answer to that is. We were trying to get DeSean more involved last year, we just weren't successful at it. He came out and had a really strong camp as far as his work ethic. Him putting in the commitment to getting better at it and the quarterbacks as well. We're off to a good start.

(On if linebacker Jack Cichy got called for a low block against the Saints during a kick return)

"Yeah that's one of the plays that we turned in [to the NFL]. All those plays in the kicking game always trickle back to player safety. The rule is that even if you're trying to tackle the returner, you can't go low through a blocker to get to the returner. It's kind of a similar play to the one Charles Sims got hurt on at Tennessee in the preseason game. It's a lot easier to see those plays when you've got the clicker and you're running it back twenty times. It's a lot harder to see it when those guys are going fast. That was a tough call for Jack. I'm not sure he could've done it much different and he called it. There's penalties like that. We've just got to live with it."

(On Cichy's ability to cover kick returns)

"Yeah he did a nice job. He did what you're third, fourth and fifth linebackers, they've got to be stalwarts on special teams and Adarius [Taylor] has been since he's been here. Cam Lynch has been since he's been here and for other teams and so Jack's the one new guy in that rotation. He's got to do it."

(On if Chandler Catanzaro's missed field goal got blocked)

"I didn't think so. We didn't think he did, but the slightest nick can throw it off. It didn't look like it. Sometimes those things are really hard to tell, but I didn't think it did."

(On what slowed down running back Peyton Barber near the end of the game against the Saints)

"We really didn't run it a whole lot. We were throwing it so well, we didn't run it a ton. When you get in the fourth quarter with a three-score lead – it was 48 to 24 at one point – you're going to try to take some time off the clock. It wasn't anything Peyton did. It was probably just game circumstances more than anything. Peyton played a good game."

(On if playing Panthers tight end Greg Oslen twice a year prepares the Buccaneers for Eagles tight end Zach Ertz)

"Well, it helps you in the fact that you're going against another tight end that is similar to Olsen and on the same class as Olsen. Really it comes down to how team use them. You know, what are their routes concepts? What routes are you trying to stop that he runs? Other teams do that. A lot of teams in the NFL run similar concepts, but Ertz is a really good player. They know how to use him. I would say that we definitely look at him as in the same class as we look at Olsen when we play Carolina.

(On if the Eagles play different with linebacker Jordan Hicks in the middle)

"No, they played the same. They were also missing [Nigel] Bradham last week – another linebacker that was out. [Eagles defensive coordinator] Jim Schwartz – he's been doing this a long time. He's got his scheme and he's usually going to stick. I'm sure every team has a few wrinkles on both sides of the ball for whoever they're playing, but Coach Schwartz is known for those wide-nine technique D-ends, for an aggressive D-line that gets up the field and for rotating his D-line. That's held true every time we've played against them going back a long ways."

(On if was pleased with the defensive line's disruption and pressure against Saints quarterback Drew Brees)

"I mean obviously not. We'd love to do better that we did. Brees is one of the best, right up there at the top of the league in getting it off. Their passing game fits their style. Philly runs a different style passing game – more RPOs. They're averaging something like 10 RPOs a game. Every week, different set of groceries so to speak, as far as what you've to stop. Our goal is one per 14 attempts. We weren't close to that, so that's what you're shooting for."

(On how much defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul going down early affected the game)

"That's impossible to say, but the fact that he went back in and played – when you're in a real game and you only have 46 guys, when guys go down, everybody has to suck it up. You only have so many guys in the game plan. It's impressive that he went back in and gave it a go. That part's good, but we still didn't get enough pressure."

(On what gives him confidence that his 46 guys are the right combination)

"Because we've got no other choice. They've got to be the right combination. There's not 46 new ones coming in – that's every week. You're 46 [have] to be the right ones every time – that's your only chance."

Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken

(On how it felt to have success in the play calling)

"First of all, I thought lead by Coach [Dirk] Koetter, I thought our offensive staff put together a really good plan. That's the first part – putting together a plan. We've got really good players and I thought they executed the plan about as well as you could. I thought our receivers did a great job with our route running. We had really good protection. Fitz (Ryan Fitzpatrick) was very accurate – really good with his decision making. Got us into some really good plays. I don't think we expected that much man coverage, but we did get it. It's not all the time you – sometimes you get it and you don't take advantage of it and I thought our guys took advantage of that and that's a credit to the players. I really feel like it's a byproduct of how we practiced. You can see that – you guys can't always see that, but we see that. We saw it in the preseason. We saw a lot of things being done better."

(On the pass protection)

"I thought our backs did a nice job. I thought our guys up front did a really nice job of protecting. At times, we got the ball out quickly – we went quickly at times. I thought our plan was really good again headed up by coach [Dirk Koetter] in terms of how want to take away some of their game-wreckers – especially 94 [Cameron Jordan], so that was good, which we did at times. Like I said, there [were] other times when we got a little leakage – Fitz got the ball out.

(On how much having early success in the game helps with staying in the game plan)

"All that's part of it – where you're at in terms of the score of the game, your confidence level with plays, probably where the excitement comes from on that first drive is that. Kind of [sigh], 'Ok, you know hey we battled back, the guys made the plays.' Again, it's a credit to the coaches and the plan that's developed, it's the execution on the field and then carrying that over on to the field and that what I thought the guys did a great job of."

(On the Eagles' strengths)

"First of all, I think they do a great job – pretty simple I would think in terms of how they align, but they have a lot of really good players and put themselves in position where when you do certain things usually whenever you have system and you believe in that system like they do and they're simple, it allows their guys to play fast. They've got good players up front. They rotate those guys – active linebackers, two corners that are good players that they don't feel like they've got to match. They keep them on sides and they've got arguably two of the best safeties as a combination in the league. They do a lot of things with personnel groups, so they force you to execute. They're different than New Orleans. They play a lot of single high, so it's harder to get balls down the field. They play off a lot more and they react to quarterback's drops and the depths in your route, so you've got to be really efficient in those things. That's the next challenge – its every week."

(On if Ryan Fitzpatrick's confidence comes from more reps in practice)

"It comes from that, but I think also – Fitz is a pretty confident guy. He may say that – try to say the right thing, but he's very confident in his ability and what he can and can't do. Again, just watching him operate – very poised, very calm, in control on the road, having a plan when we got certain look to get us in and out of plays. Again, you don't play that long in this league and continue to play without being a really really talented football player."

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick

(On if the Buccaneers' offense fits his style of play)

"Every stop for me has been different. Every offense for me has been different. Some tailored to my strengths and others I just kind of had to fit in. I think the places where I've done well – you're able to play at the line of scrimmage a little bit. You've got some veteran guys on the outside that kind of understand the game and can take the next step in terms of what we're trying to do. And then also just I think all the different experiences I've had I just continue to become a better player whether people think that or see that or not. I'm better right now than I've been in any point in my career and a lot of that is just mentally and whatever else. There's a lot of different throws and things that are so much engrained in you. So much muscle memory from working and doing it for a long time. I feel like the older I've gotten the better I've become."

(On if he feels unstoppable when he has success early on in the game)

"Yeah, I think there are some days where you have it or you feel it better than others for sure. That plays into decision making at times and all that. Last Sunday was fun. I've been there before a few times and probably thought I was in the zone a few times when I wasn't. A lot of it is just – again goes back to confidence in knowing you can do it."

(On how the significance of the third down he picked up on the last drive)

"We knew that was [an] important play in the game because if we got the first down – as an offense, when you've got a chance to close out a game, whether it's in the four-minute mode handing it off and trying to get first downs or in that case we had five guys out there and we spread them out, who am I going to throw it to here to get a first down to essentially end the game? Because we would've been under two minutes there. I looked to my right and there wasn't a whole lot going on there which caused me to go out to my left and there's a lot of green grass, so I got the first down and got down."

(On what he can say about offensive coordinator Todd Monken)

"It's such a collective effort with those guys in terms of how hard everybody works during the week to get the game plan together and to get all those situational calls down. It's definitely still a collective effort and [Monken] does a great job. He watches so much film during the week. He's up there grinding all the time. The other thing is just when we meet, all the different voices in the room and everybody being on the same page, that's been nice. It's been nice to have Todd in our room a little bit more this year now that he's not full-time with the receivers."

(On what stands out to him about the Eagles defense)

"They play fast. They play hard. Their front four is able to generate a lot of pressure and that's not to say they're not going to blitz or come after you, but those guys are tough to block up. They're a really talented group and they're deep up front. I think if you're looking for one thing that jumps out overall, that would be the first thing that comes to mind."

(On how he keeps his confidence up when he's the main starter)

"Confidence is a huge thing. Whether you're out there or not, but more so than my confidence in myself – because I always have that – is when you're in the huddle whether you're the starter or you're the backup, when you step in to that huddle, you can feel it. You can feel from the play caller. You can feel from those guys looking at you whether they have confidence in you or not and I think that's the biggest thing. To be able to step in the huddle and to feel that that group is confident that you're standing in there, which comes with time, comes with whatever else, comes with your demeanor, your moxie, whatever it is – I think that's one of the most important things for overall confidence."
