BUCCANEERS SIGN TANNER HUDSON FROM PRACTICE SQUAD

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today signed tight end Tanner Hudson from the practice squad to the active roster.

Hudson (6-5, 239) originally entered the league as a college free agent with the Buccaneers during the 2018 offseason and has split time between the team's active roster and practice squad from 2018-20. The Southern Arkansas product has played in 10 career games with Tampa Bay, making two receptions for 26 yards. A native of Camden, Tennessee, Hudson wears No. 88 for Tampa Bay.

In addition, Tampa Bay signed cornerback Ross Cockrell and tight end Daniel Helm and re-signed center Zach Shackelford to the practice squad.

Cockrell (6-0, 191) joins the Buccaneers after spending the 2019 NFL season with the Carolina Panthers, starting in 11-of-14 appearances and recording 62 tackles, eight passes defensed and two interceptions. Since entering the league as a fourth-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills, Cockrell has spent time with the Bills (2014), Pittsburgh Steelers (2015-16), New York Giants (2017) and Carolina Panthers (2018-19). He has played in 68 career games, making 43 starts, notching 217 tackles, 44 passes defensed, seven interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. The Duke University product is a native of Hazlet, New Jersey and will wear No. 43 for Tampa Bay.

Helm (6-4, 248) entered the league as a college free agent with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2019. He spent the majority of the 2019 season on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad before splitting time between the 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs during the 2020 offseason. At the collegiate level, Helm spent one season at the University of Tennessee (2014) before playing three seasons at Duke (2016-18). In his 51 career collegiate games, the Chatham, Illinois, native, caught 75 passes for 804 yards and six touchdowns. He will wear No. 81 for Tampa Bay.

Shackelford (6-4, 305) signed with Tampa Bay as a college free agent out of Texas at the start of the 2020 offseason and has been with the Buccaneers ever since, spending the first two weeks of the season on the team's practice squad. He wears No. 59 for Tampa Bay.
