The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' cornerback corps recently ran into a streak of injury misfortune. On Sunday, the Buccaneers used the waiver wire to add some experienced depth to that position.

The Buccaneers successfully claimed third-year cornerback De'Vante Harris, who had been waived by the New Orleans Saints on Saturday. To make room for Harris on the 91-man preseason roster, the team released rookie cornerback Aaron Davis, one of three players just signed on Friday.

Harris (5-11, 190) has played in 21 games over the last two seasons for the Saints, starting two of them. His career stats include 24 tackles, three passes defensed and a fumble recovery. Harris, who played his college ball at Texas A&M, made the Saints' roster in 2016 as an undrafted rookie. He entered last season as a starter on New Orleans' defense, though he ended up seeing the majority of his action on special teams.

Harris played four seasons at Texas A&M and saw action in 45 games. His stats for the Aggies included 165 tackles, five interceptions and 21 passes defensed.

The Buccaneers are dealing with injuries to cornerbacks Vernon Hargreaves and Javien Elliott, and veteran starter Brent Grimes is just beginning to ease back into practice reps after missing most of the first two weeks of training camp.
