Bucs-Falcons Inactives: O.J. Howard Set to Play

Second-year TE O.J. Howard has overcome a knee injury that originally threatened to sideline him for several games

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons named their game-day inactives on Sunday at 11:30 p.m. ET, 90 minutes before kickoff of their Week Six game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. NFL teams are required to reduce their active rosters to 46 players for each regular-season game.

The Buccaneers will have the services of second-year tight end O.J. Howard, a development that would have been quite surprising a week ago, though Howard's work on the practice field leading up to Sunday had sparked optimism about his availability. In addition, defensive tackle Beau Allen will return after a two-game absence caused by a foot injury.

The Buccaneers had already ruled out one player, cornerback Marcus Williams, but Williams was subsequently placed on injured reserve and replaced on the roster by wide receiver Freddie Martino. As such, Tampa Bay's only player inactive due to injury is rookie cornerback Carlton Davis. Third-year man Ryan Smith will start in his place.

The Falcons had ruled out three players on Friday: running back Devonta Freeman, defensive tackle Grady Jarrett and defensive end Derrick Shelby.
