The Tampa Bay Buccaneers waived second-year running back Shaun Wilson on Friday. Wilson played in five games as a rookie and opened the 2018 season as the team's primary kickoff returner.

Wilson originally joined the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Duke in 2018. He made the 53-man roster to begin the season but ended the year on injured reserve due to a shoulder ailment. Wilson's rookie totals included six carries for 29 yards, three receptions for five yards and seven kickoff returns for 122 yards (17.4-yard average).

The Buccaneers did not immediately make a corresponding roster move and thus stand at 89 players, one fewer than the limit for training camp. With Wilson's release the Buccaneers have five running backs on the roster: holdovers Peyton Barber, Ronald Jones and Dare Ogunbowale, veteran addition Andre Ellington and undrafted rookie Bruce Anderson.
