TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS QUOTE SHEET 11-7-22

HEAD COACH TODD BOWLES

(On the defense getting a stop and giving the offense a chance to win the game)

"That was big. It gave us some time on the clock and not giving [the Rams] a first down, so giving [Tom Brady and the offense] 44 seconds turned out to be more than enough. Just to give them the ball back and give them a chance was big. So, the last two drives – them getting off the field helped out a lot."

(On if he's seen any progress on the offensive side of the ball)

"[There was] some good, some bad from the run production. We missed a few blocks here and there – I think that had a lot to do with it. Again, we're making an effort to [run the ball], but not at the expense of losing the ballgame. We're going to continue working on it and go from there."

(On what changes the team has made that led to improvements in last night's game)

"I mean, there's a lot of things we want to try to improve and step back and do. We got better defensively on third-down, especially third-and-long – that's been an Achilles heel the last couple of weeks. Red zone defense got a little bit better, we moved the ball a little better on offense – just small things we have to continue to work at."

(On having cornerbacks Carlton Davis III and Sean Murphy-Bunting back in the lineup)

"I thought they played physical. Going into the game, it was a big emphasis on not having yards after catch or the jet-sweeps getting out there and getting some yardage and I thought all three corners played very physical and did a good job."

(On if everyone came out of the game physically okay)

"So far, yeah. I haven't gotten a final report yet."

(On if he knows if WR Julio Jones will be okay after getting up gingerly)

"Not yet, I'll check on it."

(On what isn't working with the screen plays)

"A lot of things – the timing aspect of it, the defense is playing it well at times, and at times, we get discombobulated. We've got to continue to work at that or find different ways of doing it."

(On if Rams' LB Bobby Wagner had a clean hurdle on the blocked field goal)

"It was clean. [He] never touched [anybody]."

(On if hurdles like that have to be well-timed to be successful)

"We have ways to block it. We should have gotten a hand up here – stop somebody from going over. We understand that there [are] going to be jumpers, but he did a good job and made a good play."

(On the job that Special Teams Coordinator Keith Armstrong has done in the kicking game)

"We think he's been doing a great job. Keith is a hard worker, he understands the game, he has great knowledge of the game, he's been doing it a long time. He's probably one of the top coaches we have, and we have quite a few of them. He's one of our top coaches – spends hourless times trying to get these guys better, along with [Keith] Tandy and Chris [Boniol] and they do a great job over there."

(On the decision not to challenge the spot of the ball after P Jake Camarda's punt appeared to hit at the 1-yard-line)

"Well, the ref came over and told me that they couldn't tell, and they watched the replay and couldn't tell. They weren't going to change it, so there was no need to challenge it."

(On if he's okay with P Jake Camarda making as many tackles as he's been making)

"No, I am not okay with it. We have to do a better job with our coverage unit sealing up the middle of the field."

(On what is preventing explosive plays on offense)

"Well, you've got to run the ball better. If you don't suck them up to throw over their head, they're going to stay back all day long. And if they stay back all day long when you are running the ball, then you've got to take what they give you. And… we're trying to take what they give us right now, and they're not allowing us to get those plays over the top, but we've got to keep working at it. [It] doesn't mean we're not trying to get them, just means they're back deep enough to where we can't get them. So, we just don't want to throw it over there just to throw it over there."

(On if WR Scotty Miller is emerging as a third receiving option)

"I think it changes each game – whether it's running back by committee that has the catches, whether it's Julio [Jones], whether it's [Russell] Gage, whether it's Scotty [Miller], sometimes it's [Breshad] Perriman. I don't think we have a solidified third catcher as of right now with Julio having been in and out of the lineup, but I think guys are stepping in and making plays, and kind of as a group slowly forming that aspect of it."

(On reports that RB Leonard Fournette was 'sulking' on the sideline)

"I didn't see or hear anything about that."

(On if he knows if S Antoine Winfield Jr., TE Cameron Brate, WR Russell Gage Jr., G Luke Goedeke or RB Giovani Bernard could be back this week)

"Not at this time, I don't. I'll have more information on Wednesday."

(On his experience with these international games)

"Travel. You have to deal a lot with the travel. I think I travelled when we traveled overseas with the Jets to play in London. The toilet tissue we had to bring because it's a lot harder over there than it was here. So, that was probably a different experience for us, but they've all been fine. The travel has been good."

(On if two-ply toilet paper is the plan for Germany)

"I haven't done my homework yet on that part of it."

(On if he's been to Germany)

"I've played in Frankfurt in a preseason game back when I was with the Niners back in '90-91."

(On if he was able to go sightseeing)

"Yeah, I saw enough of it, but it was so long ago, I don't remember it. It looked like a nice place – never got to visit it much."
