TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS QUOTE SHEET 9-12-22

HEAD COACH TODD BOWLES

(On if he saw anything different in Sunday's game after watching tape)

"Not much. I think I saw everything last night. We saw it on the plane as coaches and everything kind of went according to the way we wanted it to go."

(On WR Chris Godwin's hamstring injury)

"I don't think it's as serious as we thought it was, but it all depends on how his treatment goes and how he heels. Hopefully we'll have him back sooner than later."

(On T Donovan Smith's elbow injury)

"He's got a hyperextended elbow. It's a pain tolerance thing, so he's pretty sore right now. We'll monitor him during the week."

(On if it's possible Smith will be able to play in next Sunday's game)

"We'll see how he feels, yeah."

(On how T Josh Wells played in Smith's absence)

"I thought he settled down pretty good. He got in, he was a little jittery [but] he settled down after the first series. I thought he played well."

(On rookie P Jake Camarda's long punts)

"I thought he did a great job booming [the punts] down the field. I thought we covered them very well. Again, they've got a dangerous return man. I thought the gunners and the interior men did a great job, kickoff team as well. He can put it out there and he can boom it, but when he does that we need to make sure we cover it and they did that this week."

(On punt coverage being good after an uncertain preseason)

"They put in a lot of effort. [Special Teams] Coach [Keith] Armstrong and [Special Teams Assistant Keith] Tandy and [Specialists Coach] Chris Boniol do a great job. They do a great job teaching those guys. It's mostly effort – it's effort and want-to – having speed is even better. They did a good job getting downfield and forcing some fair catches."

(On what he thought of RB Leonard Fournette's block on Micah Parsons)

"It was legal. If it wasn't legal they would have thrown a flag. It was a hard hit and it was legal. As long as it's in the game and legal, we'll abide by the rules."

(On how rare WR Mike Evans' talents are in the end zone)

"It's rare. I mean, he's got great hands. He does one-handed catches all the time, you can look at it all the time. He practices those things. He's got great height, he's got a great feel for the game, he's got great chemistry with Tom [Brady] and they make those type of plays happen."

(On the Saints having a good group of receivers)

"They've got a good football team, not just a good group of receivers, obviously. Those guys can run, they can jump, they can catch, they're tough, they can catch inside and outside and they block, so it will be a big challenge for us this week. They've beaten us six out of seven times since we've been here; we understand that. So, it's going to be a challenge for us."

(On how Sunday's defensive effort compared to how the defense played last year)

"Nothing last year because it's a new year. I think we've got better chemistry this year. After the Super Bowl and time off, still some COVID stuff, we weren't all together, didn't put it in all the work. I think this year they're a little closer just from more practice reps and being in synch with each other, so I think it's totally different."

(On what impresses him about Dennis Allen's Saints defenses)

"Well, he's a good coach, number one. They have good schemes and they have good players. We're going to face this week-in and week-out. But they've pretty much solved us the past couple times we've played them and we've got to find a way to crack that code."

(On if the problems with the Saints defense is due to their coverage or their pass rush)

"They do a lot of things well. They go hand-in-hand; I don't think you can separate them. It's coverage, it's pass rush, it's both at times and then we've got to execute on our part a little better. We've got to coach it better, as well."

(On if the Buccaneers will continue to use their cornerbacks the way they did on Sunday)

"No, it's game-to-game. They had things that we didn't have to pull out some things that we wanted to do. So, we kind of kept the status quo with where we were at because it was working."
