The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced plans celebrating their 50th Season in 2025 with yearlong programming that will honor the franchise's past and present through fan-centric events, limited edition merchandise, in-depth new content series, and more.
From humble beginnings dating back to the franchise's 1976 debut, the Buccaneers have evolved into two-time Super Bowl champions and one of the National Football League's top organizations. Tampa Bay's first major professional sports franchise will commemorate 50 years of iconic moments, legendary figures and those championship triumphs – all while setting its sights on creating new memories and successes for the next generation.
"Today marks the official kickoff to our season-long celebration of five decades of Buccaneers football," said Buccaneers Chief Operating Officer Brian Ford. "Over the coming months, we will revel in our rich and unique history from the launch of that inaugural 1976 season, to the thrills of that Super Bowl LV win on our home field at Raymond James Stadium, and everything in between. We can't wait to share these special moments with the Tampa Bay community as we celebrate the past while also looking ahead to an exciting future. The Glazer Family, along with our entire organization, is excited to deliver a series of activities, events and programming that our fans will truly cherish."
The 50th Season celebration officially commences today, Monday, April 21, with an opportunity for Buccaneers fans to cast their ballots to determine the 50 greatest Buccaneers of all time. Among the nominees are nine current Ring of Honor members, five of which are Pro Football Hall of Famers. Balloting can be found on Buccaneers.com and through the Buccaneers App.
The final Top 50 Buccaneers, presented by Coca-Cola Beverages Florida, will be determined by a combination of fan votes, former and current Tampa Bay media, and a committee of team representatives. Results will be revealed in a countdown-style format leading up to the start of the 2025 regular season.
In addition, fans can choose from the top moments in franchise history through a bracket-style competition titled Buccaneers 50 Seasons Best Moments Bracket presented by Ticketmaster, beginning in July, narrowing down the most memorable happenings in franchise history to a singular winner.
Leading up to the Buccaneers' 50th Season, the first of several 50th Season merchandise collections will be unveiled. Featuring designs by Mitchell & Ness, the apparel will blend the Buccaneers' rich heritage with modern-day style. Among the offerings will be official jerseys featuring the commemorative 50th Season patch, which players will wear on all uniforms throughout the year. The full assortment of offerings will be made available for purchase online this summer, with additional releases from Duvin, Nike, and others rolling out throughout the season.
A limited selection of the new merchandise – including jerseys with the 50th Season patch – will be available during an exclusive pre-sale opportunity at the Buccaneers Team Store on Thursday, April 24, as part of the Buccaneers Draft Party presented by Miller Lite at Raymond James Stadium. In addition to early access to merchandise, the Draft Party will feature appearances from former Buccaneers draft picks, offering fans a unique opportunity to connect with franchise greats. The celebration continues the following evening with Welcome to the Krewe – a first-of-its-kind event at the AdventHealth Training Center that gives Krewe Members exclusive access to see the team's newest draft selection, alongside a collection of past Buccaneers draft picks.
In August, a four-week exhibit at the Tampa Art Museum will debut, spotlighting the Buccaneers' legacy through powerful imagery and storytelling. Krewe Members will receive free entry to the exhibit and exclusive access to a pre-opening program featuring franchise legends reflecting on iconic moments and images captured since the team first took the gridiron in Tampa in 1976.
Continuing the celebration of the team's history through art, in August, a team-commissioned Legacy Mural Takeover program, presented by Coca-Cola Beverages Florida, will be rolled out across the Tampa Bay region, paying homage to the area's vibrant public art scene. The mural takeover will showcase iconic moments from the franchise's 50-year legacy while staying true to the historical and cultural significance of each neighborhood, blending Buccaneers pride with the unique character and stories of the local community that has supported the team through generations.
In September, the Buccaneers will hold a Legends Night presented by Ticketmaster – an exclusive event for Krewe Members featuring a panel of Buccaneers legends as they share cherished memories and reflect on the franchise's enduring legacy in the Tampa Bay community.
The award-winning Buccaneers production team will also debut a pair of digital programs in the lead-up to the regular season opener. The first, "I Am That Man," will feature a roundtable discussion between the incoming rookie class and former Buccaneers legends examining what it means to be a Buccaneer. Additionally, the team will release a five-part series called "The Bigger Picture," exploring fan, player, and front office perspectives of the franchise's most iconic images.
Additional announcements regarding exciting events, game themes, details and promotions will be unveiled in the months leading up to and throughout the 2025 season. They can be found in the dedicated 50th Season website here. The Krewe can also sign up to receive future updates on the 50th Season here.
