BUCCANEERS PROMOTE TE CODEY MCELROY

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that the team has signed tight end Codey McElroy from its practice squad.

McElroy (6-6, 258) spent the 2019 offseason and preseason with the Dallas Cowboys. He originally entered the league with the Los Angeles Rams as a college free agent in 2018. Prior to his one season of football at Southeastern Oklahoma State, McElroy was selected in the 19th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft by the Atlanta Braves and spent two years in the minor leagues before joining the Oklahoma State basketball team as a walk-on and eventually transferring to Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Frederick, Oklahoma, native wears No. 86 for Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay's roster stands at 53.

In addition, the Buccaneers announced that the team has signed WR Jaydon Mickens to the practice squad.

Mickens (5-11, 170) has played in 16 career games for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017-18, recording six receptions for 77 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to fielding 39 punt returns and eight kick returns. The Los Angeles native originally entered the league as a college free agent with the Oakland Raiders during the 2016 offseason. In 53 collegiate games for Washington, Mickens totaled 203 receptions for 2,187 yards and 12 touchdowns, in addition to picking up 190 yards on 32 career carries (5.9 avg.). He will wear No. 85 for Tampa Bay.
