Wide Receiver Chris Godwin
(On if he has to prepare differently with coach Arians' new offense)
"I think as a receiving corps we all have to prepare ourselves for what this offense brings. I think it's no secret that coach Arians likes to take shots and likes to use his receivers and that excites us, but I don't think it makes me have to prepare any different than everybody else would. I'm just trying to come in, day- in and day-out, and do what I can to be ready."
(On what Arians' comments that he can envision a big season for Godwin)
"It's cool seeing those types of things, but at the same time everything – preseason, it doesn't really matter until you put the film on. I'm not really big on preseason talk and all that stuff, because if we don't go out there and execute, none of it will matter. So, I'm more interested in looking at the season afterwards and seeing how I actually did and the expectation that I had for myself and if I lived up to that."
(On how this offense can be different or better)
"I think that remains to be seen. I think obviously we have a ton of talented guys and it's just a matter of how hard we work and how well we're executing that will determine how successful we are. Like I said there's no doubt in my mind that we can be one of the top offenses in the league. Like I said, execution. We have to go to work, we have to put in the time and we have to be on the same page."
(On if he can feel how different this season is going to be)
"A little bit. There are some things that are similar, but obviously terminology and stuff like that changes, so we just have to get accustomed to that, get accustomed to all the checks and just all learn the verbiage. We all have to be on the same page, so regardless of what the system is if were on the same page and were making it shake, man, we're going to roll."
(On what changes for him with wide receivers Desean Jackson and Adam Humphries now on other teams)
"I haven't given that much thought, but I don't really think anything changes for me. I've always been a guy that each and every year, each and every down, I'm trying to get better. I'm trying to look for something to grow [towards], and if I took a different approach to that this year because Adam and D-Jack are gone I think I would be doing myself a disservice. I think I'm going to stay within a realm of myself and just keep trying to improve on the things that I know I need to improve on. Stay true to myself."
Quarterback Jameis Winston
(On the atmosphere in the building)
"Just excited to be back. It's a new start – a new start to get better and a new start to get your ducks in a row and get ready to prepare to be a great football team."
(On the talent with the Buccaneers wide receivers)
"It starts with Mike [Evans]. Mike is still going to be the best receiver in the league. And guys like Chris Godwin [are] definitely going to get more touches. One thing we did do was spread the ball around a lot, so everybody got a great amount of touches. Other guys are going to step up in that room – Bobo Wilson, Breshad Perriman, just got him. But people forget that we've got two of the best tight ends with the league, too. O.J. [Howard] and Cam [Brate] – they are going to continue to be big-time matchups for us. Obviously, I miss "Hump" [Adam Humphries] and I'm definitely going to miss "D-Jack" [DeSean Jackson] stretching the field, but at the end of the day they did a great job getting a move for them. Now we've got to continue to move forward."
(On how well equipped wide receiver Chris Godwin is to take on a bigger role)
"Beyond equipped. He was one of our best receivers last year. He's ready. He's been ready."
(On what the limit is for tight end O.J. Howard)
"The sky's the limit, really. Not even the sky – probably the moon. Why limit him there? This guy is incredible, but I think he and Cam really complement each other well. I think O.J. can learn a lot of things from Cam, but I believe having both of those guys is going to make our offense go to the top. You can't really stop O.J. doing anything. He's going to blow you off the ball with blocking and he's going to run past you and stiff-arm you. I know he's going to have a great season and, Lord-willing, he's going to stay healthy and make it to the Pro Bowl like he was before he got injured."
(On transitioning to a new offense and what changes the coaching staff is having to make)
"We're just implementing a new system and it's time to keep rolling. You look at the years, our offense has been producing here and there. We've always been in the top 10 so now he's just getting these weapons and he's using them the way that he wants to use them and we're excited. Like I said, it's not about rebuilding. We're about to go out there and make some noise."
