Josh Grizzard enters his second season with the Buccaneers in 2025 and first as offensive coordinator, after spending one season as pass game coordinator.
In his first year in Tampa Bay, Grizzard oversaw a passing attack that finished second in completion percentage (71.5%), tied for second in passing touchdowns (41), third in passing yards per game (250.4), third in passing first downs (224), fourth in passer rating (106.8) and fifth in net yards per pass attempt (7.5). Quarterback Baker Mayfield, left tackle Tristan Wirfs and wide receiver Mike Evans all earned Pro Bowl honors in 2024 under the mentorship of Grizzard. Mayfield set career highs in completions (407), passing yards (4,500), passing touchdowns (41), completion percentage (71.4%) and passer rating (106.8), ranking second in the NFL in touchdown passes, tied for second in completions, third in total touchdowns (44), third in completion percentage, fourth in passer rating and seventh in yards per attempt (7.9). He became just the fourth player in NFL history to record a season with 4,000+ passing yards, 40+ touchdowns, and a 70+ completion percentage, joining Drew Brees (2011), Joe Burrow (2024) and Aaron Rodgers (2020).
Grizzard brought 12 years of coaching experience to Tampa Bay, including seven years at the professional level – all with the Miami Dolphins. During his time with the Dolphins, Grizzard served as a quality control coach (2017-19, 2022-23) and wide receivers coach (2020-21). He was a part of four consecutive winning seasons with the Dolphins – accomplishing the feat for the first time since the club did so in seven straight seasons from 1997-2003.
Grizzard contributed to an offense that finished the 2023 season ranked first in yards per game (401.3), passing yards per game (265.5), and yards per carry (5.1), while ranking second in yards per play (6.5), net yards per pass attempt (8.0), and points scored per game (29.2). During his time as Miami's wide receivers coach, Grizzard worked closely with Jaylen Waddle, who established the NFL's then-rookie-reception record in 2021 with 104 receptions for a club-rookie-record 1,015 receiving yards.
Prior to his time with the Dolphins, Grizzard worked as a graduate assistant/quality control coach for Duke University (2013-16) where he coached current New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Grizzard helped the Blue Devils to their best three-year stretch (2013-15) in school history, earning 27 wins an ACC Coastal division title and three consecutive bowl appearances.
Grizzard played football collegiately at Yale (2008-11), playing defensive back, before shifting into a student coaching assistant role in 2012. He is a native of Zebulon, North Carolina.
