Bryan Anger finished the season as strong as he had been all year, being named the Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the season finale win over the Carolina Panthers. He placed all five of his punts inside the 20-yard line in the 17-16 victory.

His five punts inside the 20 ties for a league high and led the NFC for the week. His net average of 45.8 yards per punt was the third highest mark in the league. He also allowed zero punt return yards in the game.

In December, Anger was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate for his standout 2016 season. On New Year's Eve, Anger signed a multi-year extension to remain a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. In 2016, he landed 37 punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line, tied for third most in the NFL. His 42.7-yard net average was the fourth highest in the league.
