BUCCANEERS ELEVATE PITTS AND WELLS

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today elevated cornerback Derrek Pitts Jr. and tight end David Wells from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's Week 17 game against New Orleans. It marks the second elevation of the season for Pitts and the first for Wells.

Pitts (6-1, 193) originally signed with the Buccaneers as a college free agent on May 12, 2023, and made the club's season-opening roster. Pitts has appeared in three games for Tampa Bay this season, recording one defensive tackle and one special teams tackle. The Dunbar, West Virginia, native appeared in 59 games across six seasons (2017-22) at West Virginia University, Marshall University and North Carolina State University, tallying 138 tackles, 22 passes defensed, five interceptions, 1.0 sack and one forced fumble. He wears No. 38 for Tampa Bay.

Wells (6-6, 260) originally entered the league as a college free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 2018. He has since spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs (2018-19), New England Patriots (2020-21), Atlanta Falcons (2021), Indianapolis Colts (2021), Arizona Cardinals (2021-22), Tennessee Titans (2022) and Buccaneers (2022-23). Wells has appeared in seven career games, including four for Tampa Bay this season. The Clovis, California, native was a two-time All-Mountain West selection at San Diego State (2013-17). He wears No. 89 for Tampa Bay.
