The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that Keith Armstrong has been named the team's special teams coordinator and Harold Goodwin has been named the team's assistant head coach/run game coordinator.

Armstrong spent the past 10 seasons as the special teams coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons (2008-18). During his time with the Falcons, Armstrong boasted one of the top punt coverage units in the NFL, allowing only one punt return for a touchdown during that time, tied for the fewest in the league, and allowed only 8.0 yards per return, the third-lowest mark in the NFL during that span.

Atlanta's field goal units under Armstrong were among the best in the NFL, connecting on 87.7 percent of field goal attempts, the third-highest mark in the league, and 99.1 percent of extra point attempts, the second-highest mark in the NFL. Falcons kickers contributed 1,383 points during Armstrong's time overseeing the unit, the fourth-most among any team.

While with the Falcons, Armstrong coached several players to Pro Bowl appearances, with returner Devin Hester making his final career appearance in 2014, kicker Matt Bryant earning his first career berth in 2016 and special teams player Eric Weems being named a Pro Bowl selection and first-team All-Pro by the Pro Football Writers of America in 2010.

Prior to his tenure in Atlanta, Armstrong served as the special teams coordinator for the Miami Dolphins for seven seasons (2001-07). Similar to his time with Atlanta, the punt coverage units with Miami were some of the best in the NFL, allowing only 6.6 yards per return, the fewest in the league, and they did not allow a punt return for a touchdown, joining the Buffalo Bills as the only teams in the NFL to do so.

Armstrong started his NFL coaching career with the Falcons as the safeties coach in 1994. He held that role for two seasons before being promoted to secondary coach in 1996. Following his first stint with the Falcons, Armstrong spent four seasons with the Chicago Bears (1997-2000).

A native of Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, Armstrong played collegiately at Temple, under Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians, who held the same role for the Owls. Armstrong began his coaching career as a graduate assistant with Temple (1987), before working with Miami (Fla.) in 1988, Akron in 1989, Oklahoma State from 1990-1992 and Notre Dame in 1993.

Goodwin has spent his past 11 seasons coaching under Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians, first working as an offense assistant with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2007-11), before spending a season as the offensive line coach of the Indianapolis Colts (2012) and most recently working as the Arizona Cardinals' offensive coordinator (2013-17).

During his time with the Cardinals, Goodwin helped turn the unit into one of the best in the NFL. The team ranked 32nd in the NFL the season before his arrival and, by the 2015 season, established franchise records for points scored (489), touchdowns (59) touchdown passes (35), total net yards (6,533), first downs (373) and first downs passing (237), while leading the NFL in net yards and ranking second in points scored.

Leading that offense was quarterback Carson Palmer, who set franchise records with 4,671 passing yards, 35 touchdown passes and a 104.6 quarterback rating, en route to earning a Pro Bowl berth and being named second-team Associated Press All-Pro. Palmer was sacked only 27 times on 562 attempts, tied for the fourth-fewest allowed in the NFL. Arizona ranked eighth in the NFL in rushing (119.8 yards per game) and scored 16 rushing touchdowns – tied for the sixth-most in the NFL – despite having three different players start at running back.

In 2016, Arizona scored 418 points, the fourth-most in a season in team history, while ranking ninth in the NFL in net yards (5,868) and sixth in points scored. The offense was led by second-year running back David Johnson, who set franchise records and led the NFL in scrimmage yards (2,118) and touchdowns (20), while being named to the Pro Bowl and earning first-team AP All-Pro honors. Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald also earned a Pro Bowl berth after leading the NFL in receptions (107).

As the offensive line coach with the Indianapolis Colts, Godwin helped the team's offense finished 10th in the NFL (362.4 yards per game). During his time with the Steelers, Goodwin was part of the team that won Super Bowl XLIII and advanced to Super Bowl XLV. Working with the Pittsburgh offensive line, Goodwin helped Maurkice Pouncey earn Pro Bowl berth in each of their two seasons working together.

Goodwin began his NFL career as an assistant offensive line coach with the Chicago Bears, spending three seasons with the team (2004-06). Prior to joining the Bears, he spent eight seasons in the collegiate ranks, first working as a graduate assistant/student assistant at his alma mater, Michigan (1995-97), before stint with Eastern Michigan (1998-99) and Central Michigan (2000-03).
