TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS QUOTE SHEET 9-30-26

HEAD COACH TODD BOWLES

(On the injury status of OLBs Yaya Diaby and Rueben Bain Jr.)

"Yaya, we think, will be okay. Rueben, we're still trying to decide, and we'll see at the end of the week where he is."

(On whether Bain's shoulder remains a concern)

"That's still a concern as well."

(On what injury OLB Yaya Diaby is dealing with)

"He's got a calf."

(On when DL Rakeem Nuñez-Roches sustained his foot injury)

"I don't even think it was pregame warmups – it was stretch. It was even before the uniforms came on, so it was unfortunate. Something with his foot that just happened and hadn't happened in a couple years…It came up, and it's one of those things."

(On LB Josiah Trotter's participation in practice on Wednesday)

"He did everything today. We'll see tomorrow when we put shoulder pads on…I'll have a better feel."

(On what QB Jalon Daniels needs to focus on ahead of his first NFL start)

"Really just the film work. You know, you've got to get ready mentally. Like I told him, he's been playing football his whole life – this is not a new thing for him. As long as he does his job and [doesn't] try to go outside the box and do more than that, he'll be fine."

(On what the offense, specifically the offensive line and the running backs, need to clean up in pass protection)

"It was all-inclusive. The [running] backs have got to play better. The communication has got to be better. We've got to have better fundamentals and footwork and not get crossed over, as well."

(On whether Bowles has changed anything about the team's practice routine)

"We've done some things, yeah."

(On if Bowles can divulge the changes he has made to the practice routine)

"No."

(On the challenge of QB Jalon Daniels potentially making two starts in a five-day span considering next week's Thursday Night Football game)

"He's played a lot of football in his life. It's not about playing twice in [five] days. I think he's done that in college some. He's played against our defense from a pressure standpoint every day in the summer. It'll just be all eyes on him now as opposed to not on him. He's a very calm customer. He'll be comfortable very soon in the game. We just expect him to do his job, and everybody else has got to do theirs."

(On if there was a moment when Bowles first became confident in Daniels' ability during training camp)

"Not that I recall. It was just seeing him over time, every day in the building, every day on the practice field, how he prepares and how he carries himself."

(On whether Daniels' confidence and starter-like preparation will help him in his first NFL start)

"It always helps you that way."

(On whether the offense will change with Daniels at quarterback)

"Yeah, obviously Baker [Mayfield] has played longer, so he can carry a lot more mentally and install more and make more checks and audibles. We've just got to make sure Jalon is comfortable with the things we give him."

(On if the coaching staff will tailor the offense to Daniels' skill set)

"There are some things where he's comfortable, but we'll run the offense, and we're still figuring out all the way what he's comfortable [with] from a game-plan standpoint. He'll have some things where he's able to move around a little bit."

(On preparing for potential changes along Green Bay's offensive line and if that poses a game planning problem)

"No, that doesn't bother us as far as overall play on the scheme and everything. Individually, [there] may be some different things, and then they may do some different things that we've got to adjust to on the run, but we've got to read our keys and play our technique."

(On the Green Bay Packers offense and QB Jordan Love)

"They're explosive, you know. Tucker Kraft is playing very well. They've got the two young receivers outside in [Christian] Watson and [Matthew] Golden that [are] playing unbelievable – both [are] very fast as well. Then, [Love] puts the ball on a dime. He knows how to get rid of it, and he understands the offense very well."

(On DL A'Shawn Robinson's performance through Week 3)

"He's been great for us on and off the field. He's one of our leaders. You saw him make a couple plays in the game right there. The energy he brings and the tenacity he goes out there and plays with, we can't ask him for anything more."

(On QB Jalon Daniels' ability to make plays outside of structure)

"I mean, he can sit in the pocket, and he can do things that aren't drawn up or he would never be here in the first place. The fact that he can do some things out of the pocket unscripted, when necessary, is just a bonus. His intelligence and his pocket play is what got him on the team."

(On practice squad QB Easton Stick's progress since joining the team)

"Well, from a [repetition] standpoint, he hasn't come very far, but he'll get some this week. From a scout-team standpoint, he looks decent, but just understanding the offense and getting to see him, he's got to do some hurry-up."

(On if Bowles thought it was a risk to enter the season with QB Jalon Daniels as the No. 2 quarterback)

"No, we didn't think that at all. He earned it, and he beat [the others] out fair and square."

(On trying to avoid an 0-4 start with a quarterback who will be making his first career start)

"For us, it's just trying to get a win. [Jalon Daniels] is not playing by himself. Everybody has to do their job. We've got to coach it the right way on both sides of the ball, including special teams. He's got to play and just do his job. We've got 21 other guys that [are] going to be out there playing with him, so he's not by himself. It's [a] nervous [feeling] but it's exciting at the same time because you get to see somebody play. No matter where you come from, your first NFL game has to come at some point, whether you're a first-round pick or whether you're a free agent. You've got to touch the field for the first time at some point, and then you've got to play. He's just got to play."

(On the importance of Sunday's game)

"It's very critical. Obviously, we all know that, and we understand that as well."

(On the characteristics he's seen in teams that are able to overcome difficult starts)

"It's [being] mentally tough. Player-led teams usually do that. You have some veterans that step up, and you stay the course and you stay together and you don't point fingers. Those are the teams that come out of it."

(On potentially getting RB Sean Tucker more involved in the offense)

"Yeah, we talked about it. He definitely needs to run the ball a little bit more."

(On whether the defense played better against Minnesota)

"They played better than the first two weeks, yeah, a lot better."

(On LB Alex Anzalone's performance against Minnesota)

"He played a good ballgame. He played a good ballgame. Sometimes it takes a game or two to come around, and he's come around."

(On if OLB David Walker has potentially earned more defensive snaps)

"Oh, definitely. He's earned them."

(On how the team can get more splash plays out of S Antoine Winfield Jr.)

"We've just got to use him more. We haven't put in everything to access all his talents, and we're working on that right now."

QUARTERBACK JALON DANIELS

(On his excitement level to get the opportunity to start in Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers)

"I mean, yeah, I don't even know if I can put it into words. I mean, I've continued to say it's a dream come true to even play for an NFL organization. To be able to go out there and have my first NFL career start, it means everything."

(On his confidence in the wide receivers)

"Yeah, I mean, I have all the confidence in the world in those guys. I mean, I've gotten the chance to be able to see 'Bake' (Baker Mayfield) throw to those guys a lot. I may have not been getting those reps, but as I tell you all every single week, I prepare as if I'm going to go out there and be able to get the starting reps, so whenever 'Bake' is throwing to them, I'm behind him doing every single step that I can. When it comes to footwork, just standing behind and trying to be able to be on time just like 'Bake' is. Obviously, I got the chance to be able to get reps with those guys today, and I think it was a great start to the week."

(On the process of mentally preparing for Sunday's game)

"Yeah, I think I've progressed a lot in a lot of different ways. Like I said postgame, I think leaning on 'Bake' (Baker Mayfield), leaning on Easton [Stick] has helped me a lot, especially when we're talking about being able to know what the defense is doing, different calls that I need to make in different situations. I mean, even yesterday when we were having our quarterback and O-Line meeting, just being able to talk to

'Bake' and talk to Easton about every single thing that they've seen and just doing everything that I can to be able to retain that information."

(On the advice QB Baker Mayfield has been giving him as he prepares for his first NFL career start)

"He simply put it as: you've been dreaming of this opportunity, just stay composed, play as yourself. Don't try to be anybody else besides you, and go out there and just go make

football plays."

(On WR Ted Hurst III)

"Yeah, I mean, he's made a lot of great plays, especially when we're talking about one-on-one coverages all the way [back] to training camp, all the way to spring ball. He's been someone who [has] gone out there every single day, worked his tail off to be able to execute the offense, and every time I believe he's gotten a chance, he's done everything that he could to be able to go out there and make the play. That's something that you love to see. I mean, especially me being a rookie, we both came in at the same time and when you're able to see rookies go out there and make plays, you love to see that."

(On the process he went through from not being drafted to signing with Tampa Bay in May)

"I mean, it was quite a journey. When January hit, I kind of just knew that I was going to have a long, long process. Everybody that's older than you [tells you] when you're going through the combine process, the Pro Day process, the draft process, that you need to do everything that you can to be able to stay locked in because you don't know where your feet are going to land in the next few months. So, for me, having no idea where I'd be, I kind of was just like, 'Whatever organization, whatever team gives me that opportunity, I'm going to go out there and be able to try to prove those guys right.'"

(On his ability to adapt in the moment and how that will help him on Sunday)

"Yeah, absolutely. I mean, those guys on the other side of the football and the other team, they are getting paid to go out there and make football plays too. Defenses in the NFL, they do everything that they can to stop us, and we try to do everything that we can to be able to score. Sometimes the defense wins. So, when the defense is locking everything up, sometimes you have to be able to try to get out of the pocket and try to be able to go make plays, because at the end of the day, at the quarterback position, your objective is to try to be able to move the chains every single play. So, if the defense is doing their job, my ability to be able to get out of a pocket, I try to be able to get out and try to go find a receiver downfield. If I can't find a receiver downfield, the objective is to try to be able to move the sticks."

(On when he discovered he was able to create outside the pocket)

"I don't really know when I can say that I found out that I was good at it, but it's something that has been a part of my game since I've been playing football when I was seven, eight years old. I think that being able to develop the mindset of being able to know how to operate an offense has continued to be able to help me be able to have a great balance of being able to [say], 'Alright bet, if there's nothing open, try to look for somebody open, and if there's nobody there, try to make somebody miss and keep trying to move the sticks.'"

(On what he's been seeing from the Green Bay Packers defense)

"I mean, they have a lot of great ability all around the field. When we're talking about their front, when we're talking about their secondary, they move a lot of guys around. I'm already knowing that I'm a rookie quarterback, and I know that. I've literally been saying it this whole entire year. Whenever I get a chance to be able to go out there, defenses, whenever they see a rookie quarterback, they try to do everything that they can to try to be able to blitz the quarterback, try to be able to make him get confused, try to be able to

disguise everything that they can. I'm aware of that. Me being aware of that, I'm trying to

do everything that I can to be able to, like I said, lean on Easton [Stick], lean on 'Bake' (Baker Mayfield), [and] try to be able to get every single answer that I can for everything that they've had on film."

(On Offensive Coordinator Zac Robinson's plan for the offense on Sunday)

"I think that 'Z-Rob' (Zac Robinson) has done a great job of being able to create game plans for us every single week. I think this week is not going to be any different. I think that for me, myself, being the QB2, I'm trying to go out there and be able to operate the offense smoothly as if there's nothing that changed. Everything that I've been doing on a week-to-week basis, I think that I have given the confidence to 'Z-Rob' to be able to go out there and operate the offense how he wants to."

(On his ability to stay calm as he prepares for his first career NFL start)

"Just being able to stay where my feet are. Even when I think back to January, having those self-talks, you're sitting there telling yourself no matter what happens, you have to

be able to enjoy every single moment. This is a dream come true. Obviously, your first start, you get one first start. You don't do it twice. Just living in the moment, I think that's everything. Being able to live in the moment, being able to take every single emotion in, being able to go through every single emotion. I think that that's something somebody

told me before, every high, every low, every good, every bad, go through every single emotion because it builds you into who you're going to be and it builds character for every situation you're going to come through down the line."

(On how his college experience has prepared him for his first NFL career start)

"Yeah, I mean, through my six seasons at Kansas, I've gotten the chance to be able to see a lot of defensive coverages, especially when we're talking about defenses who are trying to stop the pass. I mean, back when 'Bake' (Baker Mayfield) was playing in the Big 12, you see a lot of numbers being thrown, a lot of offensive production, but I think that now in the Big 12, there's a lot of defenses. Iowa State did a lot of things trying to be able to stop the pass. I think that being able to see a lot of different defensive structures and being able to take that information and being able to see little things that the defense is trying to do to be able to stop certain route concepts and everything. Also, being able to lean on those defensive guys from college, asking them those questions. Obviously, in this locker room now, I'm in a locker room full of a lot of NFL vets, especially on the defensive side of the ball. They're giving me little cues, little things that will be able to help me come Sunday. If I do have questions, like I said, I'm not scared to ask those questions, I'm not embarrassed, I'm not going to be someone who's out here trying to act like he has every single answer."

(On if he is going to be able to stay calm when it comes time for him to take the field)

"Yeah, absolutely. I think that one thing I learned in college was, you can't be the thermometer, you have to be the thermostat. You have to be someone who comes in and is able to set the temperature of the room, not test the room and try to be able to blend in with it. If a team is low, I have to be able to pick it up to be able to make sure that they're even. If we're high, then I have to be able to be low to be able to make sure that we're even. I try to be as even-keel as possible. I think that being able to go out there and have that even-keeled feel, the team around you feels that."

(On the support he's gotten from his family so far this season)

"Well, I'll tell you what. My mom just missed her first game last week because she had to get surgery, and she literally just got cleared to be able to come to this upcoming

game. My pops has not missed a game this year from preseason all the way to season, and he was at the very last game. One thing I will say about my mom and my pops is that they are as supportive as they come. Through every single thing that I've gone through in my career and my journey to be able to make it all the way here, I've leaned on those two because my mom is the strongest woman that I know and my pops is one of the most hardworking men that I've ever seen in my entire life. Being able to lean on those two has helped me be able to have the mindset that I go by on a day-to-day basis. I think that has helped me be able to come here, be able to be confident in myself, and be able to go out there and execute."
