Brian McLaughlin enters his 12th season with the Buccaneers and his fourth as a college scout. Prior to becoming a college scout, he spent four seasons as an NFS/Combine Scout (2018-2021) after being elevated from scouting assistant (2016-17). McLaughlin started in Tampa Bay as a team operations assistant the prior two years (2014-15).
In his current role, he is responsible for scouting the Mid-Atlantic region, spanning colleges and universities across Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina and Tennessee.
McLaughlin has been the area scout for recent Buccaneers draft picks Emeka Egbuka (2025), Graham Barton (2024) and Yaya Diaby (2023), as well as undrafted players Kameron Johnson and Markees Watts.
Throughout his tenure with the Buccaneers, McLaughlin has covered colleges in the Southeast, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast areas of the country. He has evaluated players, interviewed college sources, gathered information and built reports on each of the players in his respective areas. He also assisted with the NFL Combine, Reese's Senior Bowl, East-West Shrine Bowl and other college all-star games.
As a scouting assistant, McLaughlin was responsible for college and pro player evaluations, database management, as well as assisting with day-to-day operations in the personnel department.
A Buccaneers team operations intern during the 2012 season, McLaughlin spent the 2013 season as the Assistant Director of Football Operations and Recruiting Coordinator at Florida International University. He also served as the Player Personnel Coordinator for the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League in 2014, before returning to Tampa Bay. McLaughlin also held internships with the Indianapolis Colts (2011) and Cleveland Browns (2010).
A native of Norwalk, Ohio, McLaughlin graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in sports administration and received the program's 'Most Outstanding Student' award. He currently resides in Tampa with his wife, Tina.
