Zach Smith enters his eighth season with the Buccaneers and his second as a college scout. Previously, Smith served two seasons as the team's NFS scout, following four seasons as a scouting assistant.
In his current role, Smith is responsible for scouting the West region. Previously as the NFS scout, Smith covered colleges in the southeast region and evaluated players, gathered information and built reports on behalf of National Football Scouting and the Buccaneers. He also assisted with the NFL Combine, the Reese's Senior Bowl, and other college all-star games. As a scouting assistant, Smith was responsible for college and pro player evaluations, database management, as well as assisting with day-to-day operations in the personnel department.
Prior to joining the Buccaneers, Smith interned with the University of Arizona, spending two seasons as a football recruiting intern before being elevated to head football recruiting and player personnel intern. Smith also held internships with the Chargers as an equipment intern and scouting intern.
A native of San Diego, California, Smith graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in journalism and a minor in sociology. He currently resides in Tampa with his wife, Tori.
