1994 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Season | Team History & Highlights

1976
In the third season with Sam Wyche at the helm, the 1994 Buccaneers finished with a flourish, winning four of their last five, but a six-game midseason losing streak meant that they would only improve by one game over the year before, at 6-10. In his second year as a starter, quarterback Craig Erickson showed significant improvement, throwing for 2,919 yards, 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, and rookie running back Errict Rhett came on strong in the second half to break the 1,000-yard mark. Original team owner Hugh Culverhouse died from lung cancer just before the start of the season and the team was put under the direction of a three-man trust that sought to sell the franchise. This led to concerns that the Buccaneers would end up being relocated by new ownership after the season. A four-game winning streak in November and December led to feelings of hope, but the season ended with a 34-19 home loss to the Green Bay Packers.
