Tampa Bay Buccaneers

3 Players to Watch at Camp, July 31

A few players to keep an eye on during Monday's training camp practice.

**

  1. TE Cameron Brate**
Brate is battling for the starting tight end job, but will be a key part of the Buccaneers' offense whether or not he's on the field for the first snap of the game. He's been lining up with the first team through the first three days of training camp, with O.J. Howard working in and taking some second-team reps. Brate has been a consistent, reliable pass-catcher thus far. His blocking will be on display when the Buccaneers are in full pads today.

  1. LB Kwon Alexander**
Little by little, Alexander keeps getting better. He earned a starting role as a rookie and led the Buccaneers, and NFL, in solo tackles a year ago. During Sunday's practice, he forced a turnover by stripping a wet ball out of DeSean Jackson's hands down the right sideline. Keep an eye on Alexander, particularly in the run game.

3. C Ali Marpet
Marpet is still adjusting to life at a new position after moving from guard to center this offseason. Although there have been just three training camp practices thus far, he already has plenty of experience snapping in the rain. It rained heavily on both Saturday and Sunday and most center/quarterback exchanges went off without a hitch. But snapping the ball is just a small part of playing the position. We'll get a good look at how his play translates to his new position when the pads come on this morning.
