TIGHT END DEVIN CULP
(On what he's been able to focus on this offseason compared to last year when he was focused on getting drafted)
"Yeah, it's definitely nice. You get to feel like you have a little more breathing room. Obviously, I already got picked by a team, so I'm not worried about that part of it. Now I can just focus on my skills and my craft, getting bigger, faster, stronger. I had a few clips that I can go off of, but you know, I've been watching a ton of Cade [Otton] and a few other tight ends from around the league, so I'm just trying to get better in any [way] that I can."
(On what feedback he received from the coaches in his exit interview)
"Everything was really positive. I was happy with what they had to say. Being in the role I was in last year, it was just kind of a place where I had to stay ready because I never knew when my number was going to be called but I knew it was going to be at some point, and so for me to be able to step up when I had my opportunity was very huge. It left all the coaches pleased and very excited to see what the future is going to entail for me."
(On how much TE Payne Durham helped him through the times where he wasn't playing as much last season)
"Not just Payne, the entire room as a whole. I love my guys in the room. I have a lot of love and respect for Coach [Justin] Peele, Coach [Jeff] Kastl because those guys, they preach it to me. They saw the times where I was maybe a little down because I just wanted to play but they just always were constantly reminding me each and every day, 'Stay consistent, stay consistent. Stay in your routine. Stay ready, stay ready, stay ready.' Eventually, when I had the opportunity, I was able to do what I did with it."
(On his thoughts on the promotion of Offensive Coordinator Josh Grizzard)
"I'm super excited for 'Grizz' and this opportunity that he's been presented with. [He's an] extremely knowledgeable coach, definitely knows the ins and outs of what he's trying to teach us and [what he wants us] to develop into as an offense and he's just a very smart coach. He knows exactly what he's trying to do, he knows the players that he has and the type of situations that we have the most success in. I'm just excited to build this thing with him and all the other guys."
(On if the Buccaneers could potentially have the best offense in the league this season)
"Yeah, I mean, I don't see any reason why we couldn't be the best offense in the league. Last year, statistically-wise, we were top five in a lot of categories, and I think as we step into this next year together, there's just going to be even more camaraderie, even more trust, and just even better chemistry and feel for how we want to play the game with one another. I think there's no reason why we couldn't be at the top."
OUTSIDE LINEBACKER YAYA DIABY
(On DL teammate Calijah Kancey saying he's going to lead the league in sacks)
"Hey, I want him to win as much as he wants me to win, but that's just something we're going to have to fight for. It's going to be fun."
(On what he can learn from OLB Haason Reddick)
"Just watching film on him previously, the guy can get to the quarterback and that's what I want to do this year is get to the quarterback. So, I'm just going to pick his brain and just get a little intel on what he sees and what he's been coached his whole career and just feed off of that."
(On where he feels he has grown the most over his first few seasons in the NFL)
"Just staying consistent. Even though the sack numbers went down, I feel like I've been consistent in all other categories, and I just want to keep building on that."
(On if he has worked on getting off the ball quicker this offseason)
"Really, my get off has never been the problem. I believe I've got a great get off – it's just play recognition. Just seeing if I know whether it could be play-action, or if I know it could be certain things. It's just that extra get off."
(On what it would be like if the Tampa Bay defense could predominantly just rush four this season rather than having to present exotic looks due to multiple injuries)
"Saying that makes me smile because that's all I want to do. I just want to get off and get to the quarterback. It's part of the defense – you've got to do what you've got to do to help everybody be successful. Sometimes when I dropped in coverage, Calijah [Kancey] and Vita [Vea] got sacks, so it's just all hand-in-hand, but this year it would mean a lot if I could just line up and just get after the quarterback."
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN CALIJAH KANCEY
(On what he thinks of having OLB Haason Reddick on the team)
"It's nice to have him on the team. I can't wait to work with him, make sure we all get on the same page, get out there and have some fun."
(On what he thinks will be OLB Haason Reddick's biggest impact on the defense)
"He's an elite pass rusher. Everyone knows that and why not add that on to the pieces we have here already? I think that's an awesome addition to the team."
(On how his exit interview went with Head Coach Todd Bowles and what was talked about to prepare him for the offseason)
"It was moreso me making sure that I'm ready come the beginning of the season, not missing those five games that I did the first two seasons, and really just making sure I'm doing everything to not miss those games and continue to dominate at a high level."
(On what would happen if he is able to play in all 17 games this season)
"I think you'd be looking at the sack leader if [I] suit up for all 17 games."
(On clarifying whether he hopes to lead the team or the league in sacks)
"In the league."
(On how he feels about the Commanders not having a punt and not being able to get off the field on third down in the Wild Card Game)
"That's something that we want to do too. We want to get off the field, we want to penetrate, we want to cause havoc and by us not doing that and making those drives longer than what they need to be, and the defensive guys just being on the field longer than usual – it just makes it harder on everyone else not getting that three-and-out and putting the ball in the offense's hands."
(On if there is a sense of needing to do better among the whole defensive group)
"Yeah, we definitely want to raise the bar here. Every day, we all want to hold each other to a higher standard and bring more to the table. It's year three for me. I'm sure the coaches, my teammates, they all want to see more from me as much as I want to see more from myself, so that's just how it is around here. We all bring each other up and we also want to be as good as our offense is, as well."
