Played four collegiate seasons at South Dakota State University (2016-19), amassing 475 career tackles (29.0 for loss), 16 passes defensed, eight interceptions, seven forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and 6.0 sacks.

A four-year starter, he led South Dakota State in tackles all four seasons. His 475 career tackles set a new SDSU all-time record.

As a senior in 2019, was a consensus All-American after playing in 13 games and recording 111 total tackles (6.0 for loss), four passes defended, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions and 2.0 sacks.

Appeared in 13 games as a redshirt junior in 2018, accumulating 105 total tackles (10.5 for loss), four passes defended, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Earned first-team All-MVFC, Phil Steele All-America third team and MVFC Honor Roll.

Played in 14 games in his redshirt sophomore campaign, totaling 127 total tackles (7.5 for loss), four passes defended, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions, 1.0 sacks and oneextra point attempt block. Named to first-team All-MVFC, MVFC All-Academic Honorable Mention, Phil Steele All-America second team and AP All-America third team.

During his 2016 redshirt freshman season, recorded a career-high 132 total tackles (5.0 for loss), and four passes defended, 3.0 sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Attended Sioux Center High School in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Nickname is "Exploding Flower."

Was an all-state selection in baseball, and all-conference honoree in basketball.

Majored in animal science at SDSU.
