Buccaneers High School Coach of the Week

It is up to you to vote for the Buccaneers High School Coach of the Week. Voting will start on Tuesdays of each week starting on at 9:00 a.m. and end on the Thursdays of that week at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced on Fridays and posted on buccaneers.com/coachoftheweek shortly after.

Please consider the following criteria when voting for the 2025 Buccaneers Coach of the Week:

  1. Have winning record, beat a longtime rival, snap a losing streak, defeat a defending champion, and/or record an amazing comeback victory.
  2. Show commitment to his player's safety by teaching the fundamentals of the game, proper tackling techniques, concussion management practices and adherence to heat and hydration techniques.
  3. Display a strong rapport and have earned respect from his players.
  4. Have developed a mutually respectful relationship with game officials by using acceptable methods for questioning and avoiding disruptive behavior.
  5. Be a leader in the game field by always exhibiting positive behavior.
  6. Be involved with outside organizations such as camps, clinics, and coaching conventions.
  7. Be involved with community programs.
  8. Developed excellent relationships with other coaches by being cooperative, considerate and being positive with game related media statements.

The winner will receive an additional grant for $2,000 from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation to help maintain and upgrade their football program and receive (4) tickets to an upcoming Buccaneers game courtesy of Ticketmaster.

WEEK 9 NOMINEES:

Chris Hawley, Nature Coast Tech- In his first season as head coach, Chris Hawley led Nature Coast Tech to an impressive 7–2 record. His emphasis on discipline, accountability, and playing with purpose quickly reshaped the team's culture. Under his leadership, the Sharks showed resilience in tough games and played with a renewed sense of confidence, setting a strong foundation for the future of the program.

Antoin Scriven, Lecanto- Under head coach Antoin Scriven, the Lecanto Panthers stand at a solid 5‑3 this season, with the defense locking up a handful of shutout wins that showcase the program's growing physicality and discipline. Their most recent victory was a statement over Lyman high school.

Tony Rodriguez, Riverview High School - The Sharks defeated East Bay High School 35-14 on Friday night to improve to 5-3 on the season. Coach Rodriguez has led an impressive turn around this year after starting 2-8 last season. They now sit in 2nd place in their district. 

Rick Cowans, Blake High School - Coach Cowans led the Yellow Jackets to a 33-21 win over Hillsborough High School Friday night to improve to 6-3 on the season. The Yellow Jackets are currently on a 5-game winning streak and are in 2nd place in 4A District 9.
