The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today announced that the club has signed linebacker Alex Anzalone, running back Kenneth Gainwell and safety Miles Killebrew as unrestricted free agents, in addition to re-signing tight end Cade Otton.
Anzalone (6-3, 234) has appeared in 111 career games with the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions, making 93 starts, and compiling 612 tackles (34 for loss), 40 quarterback hits, 36 passes defended, 13.0 sacks, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. The nine-year veteran has also started 7-of-8 postseason games in which he has appeared, totaling 48 tackles (four for loss) and one quarterback hit.
Since joining the Lions in 2021, Anzalone is the only linebacker in the NFL to have recorded at least 450 tackles, 30 passes defended and 9.0-or-more sacks. His 33 passes defensed over that stretch are tied for the fourth-most among all linebackers. Anzalone enjoyed his most successful season with Detroit in 2023, posting career highs in tackles (129), quarterback hits (12) and sacks (3.0), resulting in his distinction as a Pro Bowl alternate.
He originally entered the league as a third-round pick (No. 76 overall) by the New Orleans Saints in the 2017 NFL Draft. The Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, native played four collegiate seasons at the University of Florida (2013-16), appearing in 32 games with 10 starts, logging 75 tackles, 3.0 sacks, two passes defended and one fumble recovery. He was a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection and earned the Gators' Chris Patrick Courage Award in 2014.
Gainwell (5-9, 200) has appeared in 83 career games between the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers, making six starts and accumulating 394 career rushes for 1,722 yards (4.4 yards per carry) and 17 rushing touchdowns while bringing in 175 career receptions for 1,207 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. Since entering the league in 2021, Gainwell is the only running back to have played in at least 16 games each year.
After signing with the Steelers in 2025, Gainwell put up career highs in rush attempts (114), rushing yards (537), receptions (73), receiving yards (486) and receiving touchdowns (three), while tying his career high in rushing touchdowns (five). He was 1-of-5 running backs in the NFL to record at least 500 rushing yards and 450 receiving yards in the 2025 season, joining De'Von Achane, Jahmyr Gibbs, Christian McCaffrey and Bijan Robinson. Prior to his lone season with the Steelers, Gainwell was a key contributor on the Eagles during their two Super Bowl appearances in 2022 and 2024, helping them to a Super Bowl LIX victory.
He originally entered the league as a fifth-round pick (No. 150 overall) by the Eagles in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Yazoo City, Mississippi, native played three collegiate seasons at the University of Memphis (2018-20), appearing in 18 career games with 14 starts, recording 2,212 scrimmage yards (1,550 rushing yards, 662 receiving yards) and 17 total touchdowns.
Killebrew (6-2, 222) has appeared in 151 career games over 10 seasons with the Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers, serving primarily as a special teams specialist, amassing 91 total special teams tackles. Since entering the league in 2016, his 91 special teams tackles are the second-most in the NFL over that span, and he leads all active players in career blocked punts (four). During his time with the Steelers, he earned consecutive Pro Bowl trips as a special teamer from 2023-24, and was also a 2023 Associated Press First Team All-Pro as a special teamer. In addition to special teams, he has made five starts on defense, contributing 75 tackles (three for loss), six passes defended, two interceptions (one touchdown), two quarterback hits and one forced fumble.
He originally entered the league as a fourth-round pick (No. 111 overall) by the Lions in the 2016 NFL Draft. The Henderson, Nevada, native played four collegiate seasons at the Southern Utah University (2012-15), where he totaled 356 tackles, seven passes defended, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, three interceptions and two defensive touchdowns. He earned All-Big Sky first team (2015), All-Big Sky second team (2014) and All-Big Sky honorable mention twice (2012-13).
Otton (6-5, 247) has appeared in 63 career games, making 58 starts, in his four seasons with the Buccaneers since originally being drafted in the fourth round (No. 106) by the team in 2022. During his time in Tampa Bay, Otton has accrued 207 receptions for 2,018 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. Among tight ends, Otton ranks fifth in franchise history for receiving yards and receptions and is tied for the seventh-most receiving touchdowns.
Over the past two seasons, Otton has ranked in the NFL's top 10 among tight ends in receptions (118) and receiving yards (1,172). He also set a career high in receptions in 2024, with 59, matching that mark again in 2025. Since joining Tampa Bay in 2022, Otton has contributed to a Tampa Bay offense that ranks in the top 10 in yards per game (344.9 – 10th), passing yards per game (237.6 – sixth), lowest interception rate (1.9% – seventh), lowest sack rate (5.7% – fifth), first downs per game (20.2 – 10th), third-down conversion rate (42.5% – ninth) and time of possession (30:37 – seventh).
The Tumwater, Washington, native spent five collegiate seasons at the University of Washington (2017-21), appearing in 39 games, recording 91 receptions for 1,026 yards and nine touchdowns. Otton earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors and was a semifinalist for the John Mackey Award in 2020.
