BUCCANEERS SIGN KICKER RODRIGO BLANKENSHIP

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today signed free agent kicker Rodrigo Blankenship.

Blankenship (6-1, 185) enters his fourth year in the NFL since signing with the Indianapolis Colts as a college free agent in 2020. In 24 career games between the Colts and the Arizona Cardinals, Blankenship has converted 47-of-56 (83.9%) field goals and 54-of-58 (93.1%) extra points. His best season came in 2020, when he amassed 149 kicking points by going 32-of-37 (86.5%) on field goals and 43-of-45 on extra points, earning him a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

The Marietta, Georgia, native played collegiately at the University of Georgia, where he walked-on to the football team and won the starting kicker job as a redshirt freshman. He finished his four-year career at Georgia with 440 kicking points by going 80-of-97 (82.5%) on field goals and converting all 200 of his extra point attempts. As a senior in 2019, he was named first-team All-SEC and won the Lou Groza Award for the nation's top placekicker after converting on 27-of-33 (81.8%) field goals and going 46-for-46 (100%) on extra points. He owns the longest field goal in Rose Bowl history after converting a 55-yard attempt in 2018.
