HEAD COACH TODD BOWLES
(On if they are going to try to limit the San Francisco 49ers in the running game or passing game more)
"We'll try to stop both."
(On whom he can rule out for Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers)
"[Zyon] McCollum and [Chris] Godwin [Jr.] are out. [Benjamin] Morrison is out, Mike [Evans] is out, Josh Williams is out, Bucky [Irving] is out."
(On what injury RB Josh Williams is dealing with)
"He is dealing with concussion protocol."
(On if WR Chris Godwin Jr.'s injury is a reaggravated injury or something different)
"It is a different [part of his] fibula – a different part of his leg. He is week-to-week with that one."
(On if WR Chris Godwin Jr.'s injury came on a hit he took in Week 5 versus the Seattle Seahawks)
"I don't know if it was a hit or a twist. I just saw him limp off."
(On if RB Owen Wright has a chance to get elevated off the practice squad with two running backs ruled out)
"[It is] something we are discussing, whether it is the third back or another wide receiver."
(On if he has comfort knowing QB Baker Mayfield can "bounce ideas" off veteran QB Teddy Bridgewater)
"I think it is a very smart quarterback room. He has got Teddy [Bridgewater] in there, he has got Thad [Lewis] in there, he has got 'Grizz' (Josh Grizzard), he has got a lot of guys in there. Teddy has got a wealth of experience, so they really do a great job communicating and seeing things from a player's standpoint that really coaches don't see on the field."
(On what S Christian Izien brings to the defense with his versatility)
"He is definitely not a corner, even though he made an appearance there. He gives us experience at the safety position and at the nickel [cornerback] position if something were to happen. Anytime you have a fresh body [and] a guy that [has] contributed a lot of plays, it is always a plus."
(On how he plans to fill the void at wide receiver with WR Mike Evans and WR Chris Godwin Jr. being ruled out)
"I do not think you can ever fill a void [left] by Mike [Evans] and Chris [Godwin Jr.]. Other guys have things they do well to make this team. We [have] to make sure when they are out there that we really try to enhance those abilities that we know what they can do and call the right plays from that aspect of it."
(On WR Jalen McMillan's injury update and when he might be able to return to practice)
"I don't know when he will return to practice, but he is getting better. He is still in a neck brace and that is about the only update right now. He is getting better. I cannot give you a timetable on it and I will see once he starts to do more."
(On if there is an expectation that WR Jalen McMillan will play this season)
"I hope so, yes."
(On how he plans to limit San Francisco 49ers' RB Christian McCaffrey in the passing game on defense)
"You want to get better at it. I have not seen anybody stop him. You hope slow him down. [If] you can limit the 'YAC' (Yards After Catch) after the catch, those are the big things for him. He is very tough to bring down in the open field, so one guy probably is not going do it more often than not. You [have] to have a lot of guys around to the ball."
(On if he sees anything on special teams in regard to the increased number of blocked punts and field goals around the league)
"You are trying to upset me [laughs]."
