HEAD COACH TODD BOWLES
(On if the team is in a position to make a trade before the November 4 trade deadline)
"I think the discussion is more of how much do you have to give up to get somebody that you really want? That will be the discussion more or less going forward. We feel like hopefully guys can come back, but at the same time, if there is something out there that is available…Depending on whether you have to rob Peter to pay Paul, we [have] to weigh those options."
(On the Buccaneers ranking in the top five in the NFL in takeaways, and what he would credit that to)
"We practice it all the time. They come in bunches. I can't tell you that there is one thing we do differently that we have not been doing. I have been around when we practiced it daily every day and did everything we could and we got none, and I have been around when we hardly practiced it, and we got a bunch of them. They come in bunches, and the guys start seeing it and they feed off of it and we just have to keep that going."
(On whether WR Chris Godwin Jr., RB Bucky Irving and T Luke Goedeke are in play to return to practice in Week 10 after the Bye Week)
"I think that will be discussed at the end of the week. I think those guys will start doing some things this week depending on the progress they make. We will see how practice goes next week if they can get some things done this week. I do not have a timeline on it either, [we] just have to see how they are progressing."
(On if there's an update on the health status of CB Jacob Parrish)
"Right now, he is just sore. I have not gotten anything definite on it yet. He has not been in for treatment yet."
(On why the offense has been able to limit their turnovers)
"[It is] probably the quarterback understanding where he has to go with the ball, understanding making those decisions, when to throw it away, when to eat it, not putting the ball in danger [and] not putting us in harm's way. Baker [Mayfield] has a good feel on how the game is being played -- not just offensively, but defensively as well -- so he knows when he can take shots and when he does not take shots. I think he has just been doing a good job of taking care of the football."
(On if there is any update on OLB Haason Reddick's injury)
"It is just a sprain. Right now, we are taking it day-by-day, week-by-week."
(On if OLB Haason Reddick's injury is a sprained ankle)
"Yes."
(On OLB Haason Reddick's knee along with his sprained ankle injury)
"The knee is sore, but it will be okay."
(On the decision to start G Dan Feeney at right guard)
"We did not take [Michael Jordan] out, we started [Dan] Feeney from the beginning. He started the game from the get-go, Michael [Jordan] was not fully back yet. We felt like Feeney gave us a better chance to win – he was healthy. As Michael gets healthier, we thought the best option was Feeney."
(On how he thought Feeney performed against the New Orleans Saints)
"He did alright. I thought he did alright. We had some things go wrong on the offensive line, but it definitely was not him."
(On if there are positions that are easier to integrate into the offensive and defensive schemes than others, regarding potential trades before the November 4 trade deadline)
"It depends on the experience of the player. I do believe that. If you're are picking up a young guy, obviously there is going to be a lot to learn. If you are picking up a veteran who has been in systems here and there, it will be an easier transition, regardless of position."
(On if the referees were the ones to use the word "erroneous" in regard to the S Antoine Winfield Jr. fumble recovery for a touchdown being called back for a whistle)
"That was word they used."
(On if he has any more clarity now about the ruling on the "erroneous whistle")
"Absolutely none."
(On how important it is to have the Bye Week right now, in Week 9)
"It could have been Week 4 and I probably would have said it was the most important one. It is Week [9], and that is the halfway point, and we are kind of banged up, so it is very important now, but if we were banged up in Week 4, that would have been important as well. I think you like to have it in the middle of the season and it came at the right time for us because those guys are fighting hard and a lot of guys are playing banged up -- as is everyone in the league. To get it right at this time, [it] could not be a better timing."
(On what he likes to do during the Bye Week)
"I have three boys that I have to take care of, and I will go watch some college football."
(On how he would evaluate the rookie class halfway through their rookie campaign)
"[We are] still evaluating them. They [have] to go through a full season. It is a long season for those guys coming out of college when you throw in the three preseason games and the 17 regular season games – that is almost two college seasons. Those guys are very mature from a mental standpoint. They are executing very well [and] they are playing like they have been in the league for a while. It is halfway through the season, so they should be a little bit more seasoned right now, and the production has been great for us."
(On if QB Baker Mayfield's mobility against the New Orleans Saints was hindered by injuries)
"I do not think so. I think they did a good job collapsing the pocket [and] not leaving any holes for him to run through. They did a good job covering down field and they disguised their blitzes pretty well -- caught us off guard a few times. He can use the rest this week as well."
(On using six defensive backs in a dime formation on defense for the first time this season and if it is something he wants to use more often)
"It is something that comes up gameplan-wise every year. We see things can pull out and certain fronts and certain things we like to try and do. We bring up some things, so it flashes up every couple of weeks or so."
(On how he feels about the team going into the Bye Week)
"I feel good. We played tough, we're 6-2, we can do a lot of things better, obviously. We [have] to work on fundamentals [and] we [have] to self-scout as coaches. We [have] to make sure we do not forget the fundamental part of it, they [have] to make sure they continue to take care of their bodies. Our confidence is tough, and our confidence is strong, but we have a long way to go. We understand that it is going to be a big second half when we come back, so we [have] to be ready."
(On when he will start looking at film of the New England Patriots for their contest in Week 10)
"For me, probably around Wednesday."
(On what the schedule for the team is next week)
"They will be back Monday. We will come in Monday, they will be off Tuesday and then we will start up regularly Wednesday, Thursday, Friday."
(On the pass rush getting to the quarterback the past few weeks and what is speaks to about the room as a whole)
"It means they are starting to work together. They are working together, helping each other out, getting sacks and there [are] not any selfish sacks going on. People are setting people up, and people are taking double teams for other guys and that is good to see."
(On the Buccaneers ranking third in the league in defensive sacks without a player having more than four, and if he likes that multiple players are contributing multiple sacks)
"I like that we are getting home. [It] does not matter where they come from. If one guy has 40 sacks and everyone else has none, [then] I am happy for that. As long as we can get the sacks, it really does not bother me where it comes from."
(On how he would assess where the Buccaneers are at relative to the other NFC teams like the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions)
"We feel we match up with them. I mean, we beat them both last year and that got us nowhere, so we lost to them both this year, so hopefully that gets us everywhere. We will see what happens... I think we match up well, it is just a matter of playing good football."
(On WR Emeka Egbuka's performance as the number one option at wide receiver as of late)
"I think he has played great. I mean, I think he has played great. It does not matter whether he is one, two or three – he has come in and [has] been very consistent at everything he does. He plays injured, he plays well, he blocks, he runs great routes, he has great hands, and he is a heck of a competitor."
