TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS QUOTE SHEET 10-6-25

HEAD COACH TODD BOWLES

(On winning tightly contested games this season)

"Well, it's been good to close them out. You don't ever want to play games that close, but early in the year, all these games are going to be tough and they're going to be one-score games. Like you said, last year, we didn't pull them out. This year, we've been finding a way to win. That shows attention to detail and resiliency on our part."

(On improving in late-game situations compared to last season)

"Well, you learn from last year. Experience is one thing, resiliency is another, practice is another. Coach [Tom] Moore says it all the time: you prepare hard, you practice hard, you play hard. And we go by the three P's, as judged by Coach Moore. We try to cover all that stuff, as everybody else does as well, but they're really focused towards the end of the ball game, and they understand what they have to do."

(On how much he considered going for two after the late touchdown to WR Sterling Shepard in Week 5)

"We talked about it. We ended up going for one. Lavonte [David] made a heck of a play, and it worked out for us, but we did talk about it."

(On RB Rachaad White's performance in Week 5)

"I thought Rachaad had an excellent game. He played tough all day long. Whether it was blocking, running the ball, or catching the football, he did a heck of a job. He saw the holes, took advantage…He was a physical runner for the most part. And then he had some great catches on the side as well and some screen plays, and he played a tough ball game."

(On White handling his role alongside RB Bucky Irving)

"I don't think he's taken a different role. I think he's still a lead back. We still see him as a lead back. We just have two of them now. He's matured. Obviously, he's played a couple of years now. He does his job. He's very professional. He's a great teammate in the locker room and a great team player. He understands how to play the game. He knows how to play the game very well and we count on him a lot."

(On his decision to send a blitz that resulted in an interception from Seattle QB Sam Darnold towards the end of the game)

"We hadn't called it all game, so obviously, they had a set [and] we thought it'd be open. When they sent four guys out, we thought we had a shot at it. Lavonte [David] just made a heck of a play. 'Win' (Antoine Winfield Jr.) Winfield is one of our best blitzers, so we sent him off the edge as well, and it worked out for both of them. 'Win' got the pressure on the quarterback and it actually bounced off or skimmed Logan [Hall]'s helmet, and 'Tay' (Lavonte David) made a heck of a play coming up with the catch."

(On Kindle Vildor and Jacob Parrish stepping in at cornerback due to injuries)

"I thought that was a lot on Parrish's plate, but I thought he handled it well. He had a [pass interference] call I thought was very good coverage in that respect, but to go outside and inside is not easy, especially with the game plan. Vildor has a lot of experience on the outside, so he understands the game very well and we trust him out there to play. So, it was probably more on Parrish's plate, but I thought he did a very good job."

(On what stands out about WR Emeka Egbuka as a person)

"[He is] just humble, [has a] willingness to learn. [He is a] very good teammate, very smart guy, class act. He's as sharp off the field, if not sharper, than he is on the field as a person. [He is] easy to talk to. His thirst for knowledge of the game is unbelievable. He's just a great guy to be around."

(On if the increased volume of downfield pass attempts this season has been by design)

"It was intentional lately. We started out throwing a lot of quick game, and with the linemen down, we were trying to get the ball out quick. So, we're trying to get back to what we do and get the ball downfield a little more and try to get some chunk plays."

(On his assessment of the pass rush against the Seattle Seahawks)

"I thought the ball was coming out quick. It was a tough team to play because they max [protect] seven [or] eight guys a lot, and then he gets the ball out quick when they don't. He played a very good ball game. It was a shootout. We haven't been in one of those in a while. So, we were fighting for everything because he was playing so well and they had a receiver making some plays as well. But, we got a little bit of pressure at the end and we did enough to win the game."

(On QB Baker Mayfield's late-game composure)

"He's been great. The closer it gets, the more his competitiveness comes out. He understands what he's doing in two-minute [situations]. There's no panic, so there's no panic in everybody else. He really breathes life into everybody that's out on the field and they get the job done."

(On WR Sterling Shepard's contributions)

"[He is] very underrated – one of our most underrated players, but one of our best players. He knows what to do, how to do it. He's very tough. He can play inside, he can play outside. He's done a great job blocking this year as well. He finds the open spots, and him and Baker [Mayfield] have a connection that way. He kept us in the game."

(On defensive struggles in the second half against the Seahawks)

"Sam [Darnold] played a good game, number one. Number two, fundamentally sound, we were not. We've got to be a lot better fundamentally from that aspect. When you look at the tape, we've got to be better than that. We've been better earlier in the year. We just have to get back to basics."

(On which fundamentals and techniques he's referring to in terms of getting back to basics)

"All of the technique."

(On whether he can grade on a curve due to the team's numerous injuries)

"We never grade on a curve. We tell it like it is."

(On if he can provide any injury updates on RB Bucky Irving, WR Mike Evans, CB Jamel Dean, CB Benjamin Morrison or S Christian Izien)

"[It is] a little early, so we'll wait until the report comes in and see where they're at."

(On RB Bucky Irving's shoulder injury and when he was aware of it)

"I was aware of it pretty soon. As soon as he hurt it, I was aware of it. It's day by day right now, so we're still trying to see how he heals and see how he handles it and kind of go from there."

(On how he approaches game planning while not knowing who will play at quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers)

"We've seen them both on tape obviously, but we try to attack the scheme and see what kind of scheme they're playing as opposed to which quarterback is playing. Obviously, they have their favorite plays between the two. [We've] just got to do our homework."

(On WR Chris Godwin Jr.'s health status after he was seen limping on the field)

"I'm pretty sure he was sore. Playing only in his second game right now, I'm pretty sure he was sore. [We're] still waiting for the injury report to come out."

(On if there were any other injuries during the game that he's aware of)

"Not at this time, no."

WIDE RECEIVER TEZ JOHNSON

(On playing a bigger role in Week 5's contest as well as playing close to home)

"It actually felt like a home game for me. I [saw] a lot of Oregon fans out there. I [saw] a sign that said, 'Duckaneers,' so that was kind of cool. [For me], whatever it takes to help out the team with my role – big or small, no matter what just always [staying] positive. My goal is to go out there and give my best ability and effort to the team."

(On playing against the Philadelphia Eagles)

"The [Philadelphia] Eagles, they are a really good team, a really good Super Bowl-winning team. It was fun playing against them and seeing a lot of the guys you watch playing as a little kid. You see guys out there on the field [who] you played with on [Madden] and now you are actually going against them, [it] is pretty surreal."

(On how it feels to have an early connection with QB Baker Mayfield and be able to contribute with injuries to other wide receivers)

"I think it is just a lot of reps at practice. Trying to gain Baker [Mayfield]'s trust in who he can throw it to and just showing that I know the plays and everyone around him knows the plays – whatever makes Baker feel comfortable. We never go into a panic when something happens, we all just buy-in and trust 'Bake' (Baker Mayfield), trust the coaches, trust each other and just go out there and execute to the best of our abilities. That is something we pride ourselves on."

(On what his "mental makeup" is to be able to elevate his game during big moments)

"I want to give credit to the coaches. They [are] always on me and just stay positive. [They] just encourage me to be the best I can be. Coach 'B-Mac' (Bryan McClendon), he is always out there going over scripts before the games. Right before we leave or take off if it is an away game, we are going over the script. Every morning, we meet – I wake up at five, he wakes up at five and does his runs – we meet in the receiver room at 7:20 every morning and just go over the practice script and continue to stay consistent with the plays, because you never know when your time is coming. I [want to] give a big shoutout to the coaches, Coach 'Grizz' (Josh Grizzard) and all those guys that have helped me and allowed me to show my ability on Sundays. I think this past Sunday, it was just me playing confidently and being back in the pacific northwest, kind of feeling like home."

(On what it is like in the huddle during the final drives throughout the season)

"I remember specifically saying, 'Hey, this is what we do.' It gets close to the end, and I immediately say, 'This is what we do,' and every guy on the sideline looks [at me] and [is] like, 'Yeah, you [are] right.' It was calm, poise, [there was] no panic like, 'Hey, we need to do this here.' No, we [would] go out there, call the plays and execute it to the best of our abilities. With Baker Mayfield back there controlling it, anything can happen. You just know you have to go out there with the right mindset and having that mindset of, 'Alright, we are going to win this game every single time.' As long as there is time on the clock, we have a chance."

(On if Wide Receivers Coach Bryan McClendon's recent stint as a college coach helps with the ability to develop young wide receivers in the NFL)

"Yeah, 100%. He is kind of similar to my [wide] receivers coach at Oregon that coached me, Coach Junior Adams. They both do the exact same things with me when I was at Oregon, like going over the script early, walking it on the field, they are doing the exact same thing, so I love that. Coach 'B-Mac' (Bryan McClendon), I just feel like he knows exactly how to coach his receivers. [He is] making them feel comfortable in every area, every aspect of the game so they can play as freely as possible, not making them think too much. He is a really great coach. He was one of the best receiver coaches in college. I think he is still the best receiver coach in the NFL now, because the weapons we have right now in that room, you do not get those very often – you do not come by [this] many guys with this much talent very often."

(On what QB Baker Mayfield is saying in the huddle during these come-from-behind game-winning drives and what makes him able to orchestrate those drives)

"I think it is his poise. Not one time on his face [has] it looked like he was panicked. I specifically remember when he was in the huddle, he was just smiling, he was just like, 'Hey, are you all ready?' I was just like, he is smiling right now. [For] me, I am kind of like, 'Oh, we [have] to go out here and at least get into field goal range or something,' and he goes out there and smiles and is like, '[Are] you guys alright? [Are] you ready?' Like, 'Okay, yeah we are ready,' and I think that gave everyone confidence. We went out there, we executed, beautiful pass to Emeka [Egbuka] – I love that dude, he is great. Emeka is awesome, Baker [Mayfield] is awesome, [the] whole team is awesome. I love watching Emeka play, he is pretty fun, he is one of a kind."

(On WR Emeka Egbuka's historic rookie season so far)

"He deserves everything that comes his way. He worked for it; he is open about his faith in God which is really great. You do not see too many guys out here hop on the media and say Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, this is the reason why he plays, and his role could be way bigger than football. Emeka [Egbuka] is awesome; it is crazy because I played [against] him in college and I never thought we would play on the same team, but I do not look at him as a rival anymore, he is my brother. It is one of those things that when you see Emeka play, you [are] just so hyped for him. We create all these dance moves because I know he is going to score every game. I tell him every game you are going to score today, so we need another celebration. It is awesome seeing the success he has, the happiness on his face and him back in Seattle – I think he had like 60 people there, it was elite. He deserves it; I love that guy to death."

(On what he needs to do to build upon the opportunities he has had)

"Continue to stay consistent. This is a game about consistency, and what I am doing right now is just benefiting the team in ways that I can help in any kind of way, whether it is in the run game, the pass game, with whatever. It is things like that the team needs, you do not need to be this superhero or this macho-man to go out there and be the best you can be for the team. You just have to be yourself and be able to be consistent for the guys."

(On what his "Welcome to the NFL" moment has been so far)

"My welcome to the NFL moment was meeting Cooper Kupp pregame. That was my welcome to the NFL moment, because everyone knows he has been a big mentor to me in college. My coach, Junior Adams, coached him a while back in college and I have watched everything he has done. [I] was similar to him coming out of college with option routes. Cooper Kupp is one of those guys I look up to. Meeting him this pregame, and him just telling me congratulations for being here, it was really surreal. That was my welcome to the NFL moment, also, blocking in the NFL Cooper DeJean."
