TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS QUOTE SHEET 11-21-22

RUN GAME COORDINATOR/DEFENSIVE LINE COACH KACY RODGERS

(On how OLB Joe Tryon-Shoyinka has stepped up in OLB Shaq Barrett's absence)

"I thought he stepped up when his number was called, you know? We've been kind of waiting for Joe to take that next step because he has all the tools – speed, athleticism, power – so it was good to see him get off the stick pretty [well]. And the thing is, if you look at the tape, [we] felt like he left a couple out there, so that was really good to see."

(On going up against another top rushing offense)

"Well, that's the thing you see week in and week out, but the thing is Cleveland – you know when you get off the plane – they're going to run the ball. That's how they're built with their personnel and everything, and they've got a top-flight running back – actually, a top-flight tandem at running back – so, the thing is, it'll be a good challenge. They didn't do so well against Buffalo, so they'll be highly motivated to do well because they kind of understand how they win – when they run the ball it opens everything up for them – so it will be a big test for us."

(On DL Logan Hall's progress)

"Well, that's the thing – I just kind of talked to him – I think we just went through the game, I think he had 16 snaps the other day. Now, that's the thing with him, we've got to get him more involved. The thing about him – I think he's doing fine, but, you know, the thing is, we've just got to find more of his role and create more for him. The way the game played out, we were in so much nickel [formation] and they were so much run-oriented, and then having Akiem [Hicks] and Vita [Vea] there, so we only have technically two interior guys in there, but we've just got to keep working to find a role for him because he's a guy that can really help us."

(On LB Devin White's character and being able to play the way he did after a personal loss)

"First off, my hat goes off to Devin. The thing is, you kind of mentioned it, as you look at Devin, since he walked in, as we drafted him, from day one, he wanted to be the signal-caller. That's a lot. He wanted to be the signal-caller and just the stuff that he embraces, 85-90% of the time after Todd [Bowles] releases the team, he's the one that's talking to them. Everything that we could ask for in Devin, he's flying around…It's funny, when we go through the grades – we play 65 snaps, Devin plays 65 snaps, you know? That's the thing, the guy never leaves the field for us, and the thing is, when he had some words said, against him, the thing is – one, he knows how we feel about him in the building and two – he knows what he means to the team. My hat goes off to him, the guy lays it all on the line week in and week out, without question."

RUNNING BACK RACHAAD WHITE

(On receiving the angry runs scepter from Good Morning Football)

"I thought it was very interesting. It's a huge thing, now that I've seen it and received it – I was just blessed to get it. Just being added in Good Morning Football, and seeing how passionate guys are about it, I'm just grateful to be the first to bring it to Tampa Bay."

(On his iconic run and stiff arm from Week 10 that won him the scepter)

"I mean, I don't know. For me, my impression looking back was like – I'm a very even-keeled guy. My impression was – it was a play to me. But then everybody [was] excited and it was a good way to kind of get the team rallied up and fired up as I could see from my teammates and the guys' reaction. So, it was pretty smooth."

(On how much more comfortable he is now with the offense)

"I'll say I'm very comfortable. Obviously, my confidence is at an all-time high, but it just comes along with it. It's more about doing your job [and] the coaches put me in a great position, teach me the game, Tom [Brady], a lot of guy – leaders on the team – teach me the game, so I just keep learning as I go. But, the things I can control is my attitude and effort. And when I play, that's what I control."

(On what was different about the run game against Seattle)

"For me, I just thought we [were] all on the same page. You can see we were all in synch with one another – barely had any hiccups as an offense, as a whole when it comes to [having] a good game. And then, you know only getting back to the line of scrimmage or somebody getting in the backfield – things like that and just everyone being on the same page and coming together. And we've seen that – that's what we did in Germany."

(On getting more opportunities)

"I'm just a big guy on opportunities, so that's kind of what I focus on. When opportunities come, I just have to make the best of them – that's up to me to make them. I got a lot of great guys in my corner, my family and my friends and things like that and we all understand that life is about opportunities. Eventually everyone is going to get their shot and when you get your shot, it's about what you make of it."
