TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS QUOTE SHEET 9-13-25

HEAD COACH TODD BOWLES

(On OT Luke Goedeke being back in practice and his status for Monday night's game)

"He was limited, but he moved around and did some things. We have to see how he is feeling after today's practice and [will] probably work out before the game to see where he is at."

(On if it is the same type of injury NT Vita Vea had the week prior)

"No, two different injuries."

(On if he can officially rule out anyone for the Texans game)

"Tristan [Wirfs] and Chris [Godwin Jr.]"

(On having a plethora of depth at defensive back and if it creates versatility in possible lineups or presents any tough decisions as far as who's inactive or not)

"No, not many decisions. That is going to be a problem all year when everybody is healthy. We have to gauge and see who plays special teams, who does not, what kind of packages we have for who what week and it may fluctuate all the time."

(On the impact S Christian Izien has returning to the lineup from injury)

"He is physical. [He] brings a lot to the table, not just defensively, but specials teams-wise, as well. He gives us a lot of depth at nickel, at both safety spots and even emergency corner. He can do a variety of things on [special] teams, and he flies around. It is just good to have his energy out there."

(On if he plans to use both CB Jacob Parrish and S Christian Izien on the field at the same time)

"Depending on the defense. [Jacob] Parrish is a nickel right now, but 'Izzy' (Christian Izien) will have some spots coming in as we go forward. We have to see what the game plans look like."

(On WR Jalen McMillan's injury status and if the timetable has changed at all)

"Timetable has not changed. We see him every day. He is doing fine but we're just walking in the hallway, so I cannot tell you, physically, how he is doing, but he is doing fine."

SPECIAL TEAMS COORDINATOR THOMAS MCGAUGHEY

(On WR Kameron Johnson's 54-yard punt return against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1)

"Yeah. The ability to field the ball clean, make a play out in space – that's who he's been since he's been here. Last year, we put him out against [Philadelphia] and he was kind of hurt when we put him out there and he still had a 12- or 11-yard return or whatever it was. He was fighting that little demon. He can make plays in space and the guys did a really good job of blocking for him. That synergy part of it has been really good."

(On P Riley Dixon's ability to flip the field)

"It's huge. Any time you can consistently down the ball inside the 20[-yard line] and create a long field for the opponents' offense with our defense, you can't talk about it enough. It's what he does, it's who he is, that's why we got him here. I look forward to more good punts from Riley."

(On K Chase McLaughlin missing two kicks in Week 1 and whether that's something he can self correct)

"Yeah. Chase is the most consistent guy. When I say consistent, [I mean] as far as routine. He does the same exact thing every single day he comes out. It does not change, it does not deviate from the process. That's what makes him him. He's a special player. He'll get back on track and we'll get on a streak. That's kind of how he is."

(On if he says anything to McLaughlin after a miss)

"Not a word. Let's go, next kick. The most important kick is the next one. That's how he handles it."

(On if any players impressed him on kickoff coverage)

"All of those guys. The young guys are doing a good job. Our guys are physical, we've got some length [with Anthony] Nelson and 'Bully' (John Bullock) and 'Bras' (Chris Braswell Jr.). Then, [Markees] Watts is getting doubled the whole time and even Ryan Miller. Those guys are doing what they're supposed to. When a guy gets doubled, the guy that's not getting doubled, we except you to make the play – Josh Hayes, those guys. Guys have done a good job. We've just got to continue to do a good job. Dameon Pierce is a monster – he's averaging almost 40 yards per return. He's a special returner. I was telling the guys, he plays like he's got silicone on – they just slide off of him and nobody can get him on the ground. We've got to do a good job of getting people around his feet and keep doing what we've been doing."

(On Head Coach Todd Bowles mentioning that CB Benjamin Morrison might play some special teams in Week 2, and what Morrison can offer to the special teams group)

"It's just like playing [cornerback] – the perimeter stuff that he'll do…Tackling, blocking – it's football. It's nothing. He'll line up at punt return in the vice, just like he's playing [cornerback], bump, man-to-man, it's the same stuff. It's the same skillset, same thing, it translates. He'll do a good job. He's a young, conscientious kid, very smart. He's competitive. We look forward for him to get better as the year goes on and just to watch his maturation."

(On his take on the end of the Chicago Bears-Minnesota Vikings game on Monday Night football)

"I couldn't tell you what I'd do, but in that situation, that's something that we all would be talking about. [Director of Football Research] Zach [Beistline] is on top of all of that stuff. That's one of those situations where you have to be on top of it because you could see how it can potentially cost you. We're always talking game management stuff with Zach and how we would handle it during the week. We watch situations on Saturday night – that's our situational meeting. We always [say] that there's two types of knowledge – sometimes you borrow it and then sometimes you buy it. There are some things you have to buy, and things like that, you want to borrow so you don't have to go through that."

(On if there was any reason he could think of to not kick the ball out of bounds in the aforementioned situation)

"You're obviously giving them five yards, but if the goal was to kick the ball out of the back of the end zone and that was the goal and maybe they came up short, that's an execution thing. Kicking it out of bounds, obviously that's a smart thing to do so you can save the time."
