The Buccaneers finished the regular season with a 9-7 record after knocking off Carolina, 17-16, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. It's the Bucs' first winning season since 2010.

Tampa Bay went into halftime trailing Carolina, 7-3. The Bucs took a 10-7 lead in the third quarter when Brent Grimes intercepted Cam Newton and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown. Carolina responded with a field goal to tie the game heading into the fourth quarter.

With less than four minutes to go, Jameis Winston tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Mike Evans to give the Buccaneers a 17-10 lead. It was Evans' 12th touchdown reception of the season, tying the Bucs' single-season record, which he already owns.

Carolina scored a touchdown with 17 seconds to play, but were unsuccessful on their two-point conversion attempt.

Winston finished the game completing 20 of 35 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown. In the process, he became the first quarterback in NFL history to begin his career with back-to-back 4,000-yard seasons. Adam Humphries led the team in receiving, catching 10 passes for 94 yards.

The Bucs picked off Newton three times, with Grimes earning one and Keith Tandy recording two. Tandy led the Buccaneers in tackles with 12, while Kwon Alexander had nine. Lavonte David picked up two sacks and finished the game with four tackles.
