BUCCANEERS SIGN FIRST-ROUND PICK DEVIN WHITE

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today the team has signed linebacker Devin White, Tampa Bay's first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

White (6-2, 240) was selected with the fifth overall pick in the Draft out of LSU. In his three-year career with the Tigers, White played in 38 games, with 25 starts, totaling 286 tackles (29 for loss), 8.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and an interception. White won the Butkus Award as a junior (2018), given annually to the nation's top linebacker, after starting 12-of-13 games, recording an SEC-best 123 tackles (12 for loss), six passes defensed, 3.0 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He also earned first-team All-American honors from Walter Camp, Associated Press, Sporting News and the American Football Coaches Association, as well as first-team All-SEC distinction. In his career, he earned six career SEC Defensive Player of the Week Awards (two in 2018, four in 2017), and received the Charles McClendon Award in both 2017 and 2018 as LSU's Most Valuable Player. As a sophomore (2017), White was named second-team All-American and first-team All-SEC, leading the conference in tackles per game (10.2) and ranking second in total tackles (133).

A native of Springhill, Louisiana, White wears No. 45 for Tampa Bay.
