BUCCANEERS SIGN THIRD-ROUND PICK MIKE EDWARDS

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today the team has signed safety Mike Edwards, one of Tampa Bay's two third-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Edwards (5-10, 205) was chosen 99th overall, out of Kentucky. Edwards did not miss a game in his four-year career with the Wildcats (2014-18), making 51 appearances, with 44 consecutive starts. He earned All-SEC honors three times (2016-18), while being named to the Thorpe Award Watch List twice (2017-18) and the Bronko Nagurski Watch List as a senior (2018). In his career, Edwards recorded 318 tackles (20.5 for loss), 23 passes defensed, 10 interceptions, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He ranked second in Kentucky history in tackles by a defensive back, while his 10 career interceptions ranked fourth in school history.

A Cincinnati native, Edwards wears No. 34 for Tampa Bay.
