Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Go Seahawks and Bears! | A Week 11 Viewing Guide for Bucs Fans

The NFL's Week 11 schedule includes several heavyweight battles among top NFC contenders, as the Bucs look to get back in the race for the conference's top overall seed…Some suggestions as to which teams to root for this weekend

elijah

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers head into Week 11 of the 2025 season with a 6-3 record following a loss last Sunday to the New England Patriots, and they will seek to avoid dropping consecutive contests for the first time all season as they head to Buffalo to take on the 6-3 Bills. The Buccaneers are one game behind the Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks for the best record in the NFC and 1.5 games up on the Carolina Panthers in the NFC South race.

The most important game for the Buccaneers in Week 11 is, of course, their own battle against a top AFC Super Bowl contender in Western New York. However, there are several other contests on the weekend docket that pit core NFC contenders against each other and will have a major impact on the conference standings. Most notably, the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams will square off in a battle for the NFC West lead, while the Detroit Lions head to Philadelphia to take on the defending Super Bowl champs.

The Buccaneers' own division will get some added clarity when the Carolina Panthers head to Atlanta to take on the Falcons. The same is true in the hotly-contested NFC North as the Chicago Bears, winners of six of their last seven, will take on the Vikings in Minneapolis.

The Bucs play in the early-afternoon window on Sunday, which means those of us who are Tampa Bay fans can focus on that game first before turning our attention to the Seahawks-Rams affair in the late afternoon and the Lions-Eagles contest on Sunday night. When we do, who should we be rooting for? I'm here to help in that regard. Here are my suggestions for which teams to root for from Thursday through Monday, with the games presented in chronological order. This is your 2025 Week 11 Viewing Guide.

View the top images of Tampa Bay's game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, November 9th, 2025 at Raymond James Stadium.

New York Jets (2-7) at New England Patriots (8-2), Thursday, 8:15 p.m. ET

The Patriots stretched their winning streak to seven games with their 28-23 escape from Tampa last Sunday, and now get to play a home game against their struggling AFC East foe. The Jets have actually won two of the last three games in this series, but Thursday's prime-time outing sure looks like a mismatch on paper, particularly when comparing the recent performances of quarterbacks Drake Maye and Justin Fields. That's a lot of words to devote to a game that really won't affect the Bucs' playoff situation. In this case, I'll root for chaos – Fields throws for 35 net passing yards but the Jets somehow win, 13-7.

Verdict: Go Jets, I guess.

Washington Commanders (3-7) at Miami Dolphins (3-7), Sunday, 9:30 a.m. ET

For the most part, this is a simple "pick an AFC team to beat an NFC team," and for that reason we should be pulling for the Dolphins. However, Miami remains on the Buccaneers' schedule (Week 17) and I'm leery of the Dolphins getting back on their feet (fins?) after a tough start to the season. They dispatched of Buffalo surprisingly easily last week, with De'Von Achane running wild. The Commanders aren't really a playoff contender at this point, especially with Jayden Daniels on the shelf, so it wouldn't be a tragedy if they won this contest. Let's root for our Florida friends, but not too heartily.

Verdict: Go Phins, but we're not holding up any foam fingers.

Carolina Panthers (5-5) at Atlanta Falcons (3-6), Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET

Which of these NFC South opponents do we most enjoy seeing get beat? For me, it's the Falcons, easily (though they are still behind the Saints). Unfortunately, that's not what we should be rooting for this weekend. This is a simple matter of the division standings, and the Panthers are the Bucs' closest competitors even after a surprising home loss to the Saints in Week 10. No, we don't want to see Atlanta claw back into this race, but the more immediate concern is maintaining or increasing that 1.5-game cushion in the division race. This week, we're all Bijan fans, whether he's on our fantasy team or not.

Verdict: Go Falcons, unfortunately.

Los Angeles Chargers (7-3) at Jacksonville Jaguars (5-4), Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET

Cincinnati Bengals (3-6) at Pittsburgh Steelers (5-4), Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET

Houston Texans (4-5) at Tennessee Titans (1-8), Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET

Here's the usual block of early-afternoon all-AFC contests. The Buccaneers have only played and will only play one of these six teams, having beaten the Texans in Week Two. For the very mild reason of strength of victory and strength of schedule numbers for future potential tiebreakers, we should be rooting for the Texans every week, so there's one. The Chargers-Jaguars matchup is the most interesting one in terms of the AFC race, and I'll beat a dead horse by once again (I know, it's getting old) rooting for the Chargers because their uniforms are about 10,000 times better than their opponents this week.

Verdict: Go Texans and powder blue!

Chicago Bears (6-3) at Minnesota Vikings (4-5), Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET

The Bears are one of the NFL's most interesting teams this season, and if you didn't grow up in St. Louis like me, despising every Chicago team, you're probably tempted to root for Caleb Williams and company. And you know what? That's okay! The Bears are tied with the Lions atop the NFC North, and given that the Bucs have already lost to Detroit, we'd probably rather see Chicago come out on top in that division. If Tampa Bay can hold onto its lead in the NFC South and ends up tied with the NFC North winner in the overall standings, we'd rather not be in a tiebreaker situation with Detroit. In addition, it's in the Bucs' overall interest to have the field of NFC contenders thinned out as much as possible. We'll probably go back to rooting against the Bears soon, which will soothe my heart, but this week it's okay to give them our support.

Verdict: Twelve-year-old Scott would be mad at me for saying this, but Go Bears!

Green Bay Packers (5-3-1) at New York Giants (2-8), Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET

The Packers have looked shaky in recent weeks, and that's perfectly fine with us. Once again, we want to root for NFC teams to fall off the pace in the overall conference race just in case the Bucs get caught up in a competition for Wild Card spots. The Packers were holding the top seed in the NFC just a couple weeks ago but desultory losses to Carolina and Philadelphia have pushed them down to the seventh spot. Should we feel bad about kicking a team when it's down? Heck, no! The Packers have a very talented roster and are probably going to find their way again soon. Let's hope they stack a few more losses before that happens. Maybe our old friend Jameis Winston can help us out this week.

Verdict: Go Jaboo!

San Francisco 49ers (6-4) at Arizona Cardinals (3-6), Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET

San Francisco is currently on the outside looking in on the NFC playoff field after a 42-26 loss to the red-hot Rams last weekend. Still, Christian McCaffrey is back to being perhaps the NFL's non-quarterback MVP, George Kittle is healthy and the 49ers feel like a team that could explode offensively in any given week. They could easily get back into the hunt for the NFC West crown and if they get a few more players back from the injury list could be a sleeping giant. The NFC is already top-heavy enough with legit contenders and we don't need another one.

Verdict: Go Cardinals!

Seattle Seahawks (7-2) at Los Angeles Rams (7-2), Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET

Aaaand, here we go. Now we're getting to the heart of the matter in Week 11. Whichever team wins this will be in first place in the powerful NFC West and, depending upon what happens in Philly later that night, could end up in the top spot in the conference overall. Both the Seahawks and the Rams have looked like true Super Bowl material in recent weeks, so this is clearly the top matchup on the Week 11 docket. As far as the Bucs are concerned, if one of these two teams is going to win the West, we'd rather it be Seattle. The Buccaneers' win in Seattle in Week Five gives it a ready-made tiebreaker if there are seeding concerns at the end of the year. The Bucs could get the same advantage over the Rams with a win in Los Angeles in Week 12, but obviously that's not guaranteed. We'll take the bird in the hand, so to speak, and root for the Seahawks here.

Verdict: Go birds!

Baltimore Ravens (4-5) at Cleveland Browns (2-7), Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET

Kansas City Chiefs (5-4) at Denver Broncos (8-2), Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Chiefs at the Broncos is appointment viewing, and the Ravens are always fun to watch as long as Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry are in the lineup. Neither game means much to the Buccaneers, however, and I'm eager to get to the next one, so…

Verdict: Just give us some entertaining football.

Detroit Lions (6-3) at Philadelphia Eagles (7-2), Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET

The Buccaneers have already lost to both of these teams, so there's no real advantage to be gained by rooting for either of them. The vibes are certainly better with the Lions right now after their beatdown of the Commanders in Week 10, while the Eagles were struggling to move the football in Green Bay before escaping with a 10-7 win. There are two competing concerns here. On one hand, there is no reason for us to give up our dreams of the Bucs capturing the top seed in the NFC, as they are only one game off the pace. In that case, we should be rooting for the Lions. On the other hand, we already said above that we would prefer to see the Bears win the NFC North, so we should be rooting for the Eagles. Well, until it looks like it's too much of a longshot, we're going to keep hoping for that top seed. Thus, we're Lions fans this week…which is not actually not too hard to be as long as they have Dan Campbell, Jahmyr Gibbs and Jared Goff.

Verdict: Go Lions!

Dallas Cowboys (3-5-1) at Las Vegas Raiders (2-7), Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET

We finish the week with a game that doesn't have serious implications on the Bucs' playoff hopes. Obviously, we'll root for the AFC team here and hope that Dallas falls completely off the playoff pace in the NFC.

Verdict: Go Raiders!
