TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS QUOTE SHEET 6-3-25

HEAD COACH TODD BOWLES

(On which player recorded the final interception of practice on Tuesday)

"Deion Jones."

(On if there was another interception near the sidelines towards the end of practice)

"No, that was a 'PBU' (pass break up) – it got dropped."

(On what he thought about LB Deion Jones' interception)

"He's a very good player. He's a very good athlete. For him, that was routine – anybody else, that would have been difficult. If I give him too much credit, he's going to get a big head, so I'm going to let it go right now."

(On his impression of rookie CB Benjamin Morrison's play in practice on Tuesday, including a pass break up on WR Emeka Egbuka)

"Yeah, we've just got to keep [Emeka] Egbuka upright. It was an unfortunate thing. He's been learning everything great, he's been moving very good, and we're pleased with him right now."

(On if WR Emeka Egbuka had the wind knocked out of him at practice on Tuesday)

"He must have. I didn't check. He looked fine when he got up."

(On the biggest improvement from the first week of OTAs)

"Just guys understanding their assignment and playing faster. That's the purpose of OTAs and minicamp – to get these guys on the same page and play faster with the rules and the new tweaks we've got."

(On if he had any 'call-it' periods during practice today for Offensive Coordinator Josh Grizzard)

"There was a few. If it's not a move-the-ball period, the call-it periods are really to just get him and Baker [Mayfield] in tune with each other more in a game-like situation and understanding the clock that he has to work with [in terms of] getting a play in."

(On how S Antoine Winfield Jr. has looked)

"He's been great. I mean, he looks like he's in great shape. He's been here almost every day. He puts in the work, he puts in the time, and I like where he's at right now."

(On if he expects every player to be in attendance for next week's mandatory minicamp)

"It's mandatory. Everybody should be here."

(On the importance of OTAs for young players and players trying to make the 53-man roster)

"It's important because they have to learn the scheme and they have to pick everything up and see how we run things. For the young guys coming in, OTAs and minicamps are for them to get caught up with the vets that have been here through Phase I and Phase II so that when training camp starts, they're on level ground. We don't lose sight of that and we make sure they get the reps they need and the extra meetings and the extra walk-throughs so that by the time training camp comes, they have a chance to compete."

(On rotating rookies and veterans in and out of the defensive lineup in practice on Tuesday)

"We just try to keep the reps even. Some of the groups are staggered, depending on [if there are] three groups of defensive linemen, four groups of DB's and two groups of [linebackers]. It does get staggered depending on base or sub [packages], offensively or defensively."

(On if it helps the younger players to get reps alongside veterans)

"It always helps. We don't try to sugarcoat them when we put them in there. We don't care if we put them in there with [Antoine] Winfield Jr. or up against Tristan [Wirfs]. The young guys play when they play – that's the only way you can get them better."

(On what he's seen from NT Desmond Watson during OTAs)

"He's working. He's working. He's getting the scheme down. Obviously, pads will tell the story and everything else, but he's been working. He's been out here every day and he understands what to do."

(On if he expects OLB Haason Reddick to attend mandatory minicamp next week)

"Minicamp is mandatory. That's about all I can tell you."

(On his level of communication with OLB Haason Reddick)

"I keep in touch through his position coach."

(On which player impressed him during the first week of OTAs last week)

"Really the only one was 'Voss' (SirVocea Dennis). He gets his hands on a lot of balls. If you want to say he's had a very good four days, he's had a very good four days. That doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things, but I like where he's at right now."

(On LB SirVocea Dennis having a larger role on this year's defense)

"The fact that he's been here two years – he understands how it works and what to do. Just the experience and him being out on the field every day and staying healthy will help him a great deal. I don't worry about him from the game getting too big for him standpoint. He understands everything, he knows how to play, and right now, he's in the best shape he's been in since he's been here."

(On which position groups he believes are the deepest on each side of the ball)

"Obviously, offense is the wide receiver room. You've got a bunch of guys that can play. In the running back room, you've got three guys back from last year, as well – and we've got two guys we're waiting to see. Those two are on offense. Defensively right now, I like the depth of where the inside [linebackers] are right now, and we've got a lot of competition at cornerback."

(On what he's learned about TE Cade Otton throughout the years)

"He's the same guy every day. He's a solid player – he does whatever is asked of him. If you asked him to block more, he's going to do that; if you ask him to catch more, he's going to do that; if you ask him to learn more routes, he's going to do that. [You can] flex him out…He can do anything and play every kind of football you want to play – that says a lot – including special teams. He's very good at them when he does it. The consistency he's had over the past couple of years says a lot about him."

(On if the Buccaneers are going to have joint practices with any teams this preseason)

"We're working on that right now. It's not in concrete, but if we can get that done, we'll see how many practices – whether it's one or two…If we can get that done and go against somebody else, that'll always help us."

(On which players in the defensive secondary have impressed him)

"It's heavy competition but I don't think you can say anyone has stood out right now. Again, everybody is in the learning phase. We've added some new wrinkles, so the guys that have been here are learning some things and the rookies are learning some things, as well. We know what the athleticism is with each one of them, and that expects to pick up once training camp comes around. They've all been solid. I just can't say anybody has really stood out."

(On how RT Luke Goedeke looked in practice on Tuesday)

"He looked good. Coming back out, he looks good. We're going to take it slow with him and see where he is. As long as we have him ready for training camp, that's the main thing."

SAFETY ANTOINE WINFIELD JR.

(On how he feels heading into this season after battling injuries last year)

"It's football. It's part of the game. Injuries happen but I'm excited for this year. Year 6 already, it's flying by. I feel like I still just got here. I'm excited for this year."

(On what he has seen during OTAs so far)

"So far, OTAs are about getting everybody together, going through the basics and fundamentals and just preparing us to get through minicamp to camp. It's been smooth so far."

(On if he feels it's important for the defensive communication of the entire secondary to improve)

"100%. We're out there playing with each other, we have to be on the same page. I'm glad that we're actually all meeting together and so we can have those errors out of the way and be able to communicate and be on the same page with everything."

(On what it takes for a defense to get back to having more turnovers)

"Working in practice. I feel like I say this all the time when it's like, 'What do you do?' You have to work it in practice. You have to get those looks in practice so when it's a game, it's just muscle memory. You see the ball, punch it out. If it's on the floor, pick it up, scoop and score. It's just all muscle memory and just practice."

(On S Shilo Sanders mentioning Winfield Jr. as someone he's looked up to early on and what he's seen from Sanders)

"He plays hard. He works hard. He really wants to learn and he just wants to improve his game so that's something that you admire from somebody coming in who wants to learn and actually play this game."

TIGHT END CADE OTTON

(On what his production last year did for him in terms of proving what he's capable of while the offense was dealing with injuries)

"I think individually and as a group, we pride ourselves on preparing as best we can for any given situation and so, I just try to be ready if the ball is going to come my way or not and try and help my team the best way possible. It was definitely good for my confidence and for the team's confidence in me to have that production and I want to be ready to give that kind of production in any given week."

(On what he's seeing from the tight end room that's all played together for a year now)

"We talked about – I didn't do the math or anything, but how many position groups in the NFL are the exact same as the previous year? We talked about just having great pride and being the best executers on offense. It's always going to be a work in progress. We're never going to be perfect but we all push each other. We all have a great time. It's definitely special that we get to spend another year with the exact same group."

(On how cool it is to be a part of an event like today's Cut And Color Funds The Cure)

"It's so cool. I think most of us know people who have gone through cancer and it's touched our lives and just to be able to go in there and see the smiles on these kids' faces and to be able to brighten their day a little bit. They brightened our day. This is a fun event and also just a way to connect with some people who are going through hard things."

(On what his experience is with Offensive Coordinator Josh Grizzard and his thoughts on how Grizzard will manage them)

"Last year, a big part of what he did was [he was] in charge of our third downs. I just felt like every single week, we were really prepared for all the looks that we would get and just felt confident in our role and what we were going to do and obviously, it showed up in our third-down percentage and I think that's going to show up in the rest of our offense too. We were a really good offense last year but we still have room to improve and I think he's going to do whatever it takes to get us there."

(On how much pride he takes in being consistent)

"I take a lot of pride in that. As tight ends, we're asked to do a lot of different things – I like to think of ourselves as like 'the fixers' in the offense because of our body types and we're able to participate in different facets of the game. We need to be able to fix problems so they need to be able to trust us and know what they're going to get out of us and that's a huge part of the position."

LINEBACKER SIRVOCEA DENNIS

(On how he feels physically and what it's like to be back on the field with the team)

"I feel great. Actually, I felt great [during] our last playoff game, really. It just feels amazing being out here practicing with the guys, just being around football and just being back just to play healthy."

(On continuing his journey being on the field with DL Calijah Kancey)

"Being with Calijah – I've been with him for obviously the four years at 'Pitt' and this will be our third year here so seven years. It's amazing. That guy is an animal, of course. You guys see it night in and night out on the field. Just to be playing five yards behind him – I'm just comfortable, you know what I mean? I don't have to worry about him, I don't have to worry about his assignment. That guy is a 'dawg' and I'm just excited and lucky to play with that man."

(On how his ball skills and coverage skills have became a strength for him)

"Growing up, I played a lot of different positions so I think that definitely helped. It's just the feel of the game really. You have to understand where guys want to attack you, you have to understand certain coverages but also certain times and certain plays that the offense likes to attack you in a certain place of the field. I think once you understand that pretty well, it's pretty much easy to know where they want the ball to go, and then if you know how to manipulate the quarterback in front of you, it's just that much better."

(On LB Lavonte David saying Dennis is someone he can see taking over his role once David retires and what that means to Dennis)

"It means a lot, really. Especially [coming from] a guy who's seen a lot of ball, played a lot of ball, been with a lot of players. It means a lot, not only from him, but a guy like that who says, 'He can have the keys to the car when I'm done playing.' That just means a lot just because anytime anyone says that, it's just like, 'Thank you.' [Laughs]. It means a lot."

(On what the biggest thing he's learned is since he came to Tampa Bay as a rookie)

"The biggest thing I've learned is honestly, at the end of the day, it's still football. I know coming in as a rookie, you're thrown with plays, you're thrown with big moments, you're thrown in big stadiums, but as I progressed and as I got thrown in games in those situations, at the end of the day, it's still football. I've played against a lot of guys that are in the NFL in college – some of them are my teammates. But at the end of the day, like I said, it's still football. Go out there, have fun, be a kid again."
