5 Standouts from Training Camp, August 18

A few players who impressed during the Bucs' training camp practice against the Jaguars on Thursday.

1. QB Jameis Winston
Winston had an excellent practice in Jacksonville on Thursday, particularly during the two-minute drill. The Bucs' offense has had their ups and downs in the two-minute drill so far during training camp, but they were able to march down the field and score with time to spare against the Jaguars. Winston completed all five of his pass attempts, including a touchdown strike to Adam Humphries, to get help the Bucs' offense win the drill.

2. LB Lavonte David
The Buccaneers were not in full pads on Thursday, so practice was not full contact. While David couldn't assert himself in the run game as he usually would, he thrived in pass coverage. During team drills, David jumped an out route and dove to intercept Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles. David had another pass deflection during seven-on-seven drills, also coming off of Bortles.

3. DT Cliff Matthews
Matthews, who finds himself in the thick of the race for a roster spot at defensive tackle, was very productive during one-on-one drills on Thursday. During one rep, Matthews bull-rushed Jaguars offenive lineman Mackenzy Bernadeau right into the quarterback. Teamed with Noah Spence in two-on-two drills later in practice, Matthews blew past Jags lineman Kadeem Edwards on a stunt to pick up a sack.

4. WR Vincent Jackson
When the Buccaneers needed a big play on Thursday, Jackson was usually the player to provide it. He recorded a pair of deep catches from Winston throughout practice and was targeted often during team and seven-on-seven drills.VIEW: TAMPA BAY'S TRAINING CAMP SCHEDULE
5. OT Donovan Smith
Smith seems to be getting better and better each time he steps on the field. He took a handful of reps against Dante Fowler during one-on-one drills and won the majority of them, including back-to-back reps, one of which resulted in Smith planting Fowler in the turf. Both Smith and Fowler were selected in last year's draft, with Fowler being selected in the top five and Smith going in the second round.
