5 Standouts from Training Camp, August 4

A few players who impressed during the Buccaneers' training camp practice on Friday.

1. LB Lavonte David
It's tough for David to "flash" during practice because he regularly performs at such a high level. He's having an excellent camp, particular in pass coverage. He's been tasked with guarding Cam Brate, O.J. Howard and Charles Sims, among others, and has handled the responsibility like one would expect an All-Pro to.

2. WR DeSean Jackson
The Buccaneers didn't find the end zone during their two-minute drill, but they put three points on the board after Jackson helped the team march down the field. He caught a deep pass down the right sideline to open up the two-minute drill and caught another ball shortly after to push the Buccaneers into field goal range. He also caught an impressive deep ball from Jameis Winston during team drills.

  1. K Roberto Aguayo**
As it stands, it appears Aguayo is the frontrunner to win the kicking job. He's been working with the ones on special teams and put together his best training camp practice thus far on Friday. Aguayo nailed all of his kicks, including several on the special, skinny goalposts.

4. QB Ryan Griffin
Griffin has been working with the Buccaneers' second-team offense for most of training camp while Ryan Fitzpatrick has worked with the threes. The Buccaneers are high on Griffin, who is in a legitimate battle for the No. 2 quarterback spot, but it's also possible that the team wants their young quarterback to get some extra reps that Fitzpatrick might not need. It will be interesting to see how many snaps each player gets when the Bucs open up the preseason.

Howard was very active in the passing game on Friday, working with several different groups of players. He saw some action with the first-team offense and took several snaps with the twos. He was targeted at least a half-dozen times during seven-on-sevens and team drills and caught most of the passes aimed in his direction. Howard has also been blocking well in the run game.
