5 Things to Know About Chris Godwin

A few interesting facts about the Buccaneers' third-round draft pick.

A look at the newest member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, WR Chris Godwin.

  1. He's an outside receiver.**
    According to Pro Football Focus' scouting report, Godwin played almost exclusively on the outside during his time at Penn State. He took just 13 snaps from the slot in 2016, which accounted for two percent of his total workload.  

2. He was one of the best to ever play at Penn State.  
Godwin finished his college career with 18 receiving touchdowns, which are the fourth-most in Penn State history. Of his 18 touchdowns, 11 came during the 2016 season. Godwin is also No. 4 in career receiving yards, No. 7 in receptions and just the 14th Penn State player to catch more than 100 passes.

  1. He was one of the top wide receiver prospects in the country.**
    Coming out of high school, Godwin was a four-star prospect and considered to be among the top 30 wide receivers in the country. During his senior season he caught 18 touchdown passes, ran for three touchdowns and returned four kicks for scores, earning the Gatorade Player of the Year award for the state of Delaware.

4. He performed well at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Godwin put together an impressive performance during the skill drills at the NFL Combine and was clocked running the 40-yard dash in 4.42 seconds. He also recorded a 36-inch vertical jump, 126-inch broad jump and 19 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.

5. He dominated in the Rose Bowl.
Godwin was one of the most impressive players in Penn State's Rose Bowl game against USC. He caught nine passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns, including hauling in a 72-yard touchdown as Penn State fell, 52-49.
